Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some tracks can have several thousand ratings)

This track is rated in the top 1% of all tracks on BestEverAlbums.com. This track has a Bayesian average rating of 91.0/100, a mean average of 90.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 91.1/100. The standard deviation for this track is 11.8.

Una balada inmensa de McCartney, a medio camino entre la pieza de cámara y el slo-country que mejor se adapta al estilo personal de sir Paul

On its face, "Blackbird," a ballad written as a supportive statement from Paul McCartney to the Civil Rights movement, can see a little patronizing and performative. But I don't know. It must have been a huge deal for one of the four biggest musicians of the day to write such a serious and good song.

One night in 1968 some fans outside Paul's house in London got a surprise they wouldn't forget for the rest of their lives: in the middle of the night, Paul opened a window on the second floor and called out "Are you still there?" Then he sat on the window still and played "Blackbird". It was the first night his future wife, Linda Eastman, stayed over at his house.

Arguably Paul McCartney's greatest contribution to the White album. An absolutely gorgeous song, it's a superb example of the new finger picking style that John and Paul picked up from Donovan in India. Apparently a 'protest song', whatever it is, it's a lovely creation and one of the highlights of an uneven album. Classic stuff.

Probably one of my favorite Beatles' songs. Not perfect, but it's somehow so beautiful and evokes such deep sadness. Thank you, Paul!
