Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some tracks can have several thousand ratings)

This track is rated in the top 2% of all tracks on BestEverAlbums.com. This track has a Bayesian average rating of 85.7/100, a mean average of 84.9/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 85.8/100. The standard deviation for this track is 12.0.

I was wondering why this sounds so familiar and I read the comment about the influence on Weezer. Spot on, mate!

Is this song about people that have a meaningless mediocre existence who just dull their minds with inane garbage and follow the herd like mindless sheep or is it about Pixies fans?

It's a good track though. Nice guitar.

And from this one song came the entirety of Weezer's first three albums.

Sinister and brooding brilliant harmonies and joey's ear splitting guitar work makes the experience complete

The interplay between Black Francis's lead vocals and Kim Deal's backing vocals are the key to the greatness of many tracks on Doolittle, but perhaps especially this one.
