Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some tracks can have several thousand ratings)
This track is rated in the top 1% of all tracks on BestEverAlbums.com. This track has a Bayesian average rating of 91.2/100, a mean average of 90.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 91.8/100. The standard deviation for this track is 15.1.

Steven's magnum opus. Its impeccably created with very few weak points throughout the entire 26 min run time. More often than not, its exuberant, gorgeous, uplifting, emotional, and the peak of Steven's output. The fact that he can create a song of this length with so many different sections and yet keep it focused and entertaining the whole time is a testament to his prowess as a songwriter.

Boy, we made such a mess together...
I wish this song ended after the first section, because I am in love with that melody but I really hate the rest of the song.
Holy hell this song is just indescribably good. You don't see a lot of 25 minute long songs after like 1975 but this is just borderline perfect.
Definitely one of Sufjan's best songs. I remember seeing him live on his Age of Adz tour and not many fans knew what to make of the album and this song, having grown to love his banjo tunes. I got the album a few days earlier and quickly fell in love with it and this song, so "their opus" as he referred to in on stage was the highlight of the show for me.
greatest song of all time.

I wholeheartedly think this is Sufjan's best work
what a sick song.

Some next level sonic exploration. This song is nuts, it bends time and reality and just goes on forever, like the impossible nature of the soul. This song epitomises life, crazy soft beautiful and in the end one turbulent rollercoaster of random events expressed through the spontaneous styles, effects and sounds, encompassing everything it means to be alive and our life upon reflection and hindsight. Chaos. But through this he asks us to find order by listening to our soul 'dont be distracted'

Sufjan's Atom Heart Mother??? Maybe
