What can you say? Quite simply one of the most jaw dropping, most inventive and most original pieces of pop music ever made. In my opinion, it's John Lennon's greatest contribution to the Beatles, and as you guys know, that's saying something. Strawberry fields forever, must have sounded absolutely bizarre upon it's release in early 1967, people probably didn't know what to make of it. Anyway, it just seems to get better and better with each year that goes by. Great song, great production, and as a double-A side with Penny lane, the greatest single of all time. (Edited)

The first time my dad heard this song (1967) he was 17 years old driving his car and listening to the radio when this popped up
He literally pulled over on the side of the road and just listened in astonishment

Along with A Day in the Life , my two favourite songs of all time. Apparently the ending with the Beatles just making random sounds and banging on drums etc was recorded separately and done as a joke. It was meant to be left off. During mixing they decided to include a bit of it which is why it fades in and out. Magnificent. (Edited)
