Is this track a reference or parody or something of Sing About Me/Dying of Thirst?
Beyond the obvious two-name song title and the dramatic shift in the middle, the second part of the song offers up a beat reminiscent of the feel behind Dying of Thirst. Even Peggy’s cadence is similar to Kendrick’s over top of that beat.
I’ll take things one farfetched step further. Near the end of Danny’s portion of the song, he says “Is you finished? Are you d—“, cutting off his sentence in a way that reminds me of how Kendrick uses the idea with “And if I die before your album drop, I hope—“
Regardless of any of that, this is another great track on an outstanding project.
