People have dropped a lot of comparisons to later music. I might not agree with all of them but the song is certainly ahead of it's time. Always sounded like dream pop to me.
Quite possibly the most influential song no one ever talks about. They invented chillwave 10 years ahead of its time, and thus the whole "wave" genre in general. Sounds like it could have come out today.
This song is so ahead of its time, it's like the 80's, but ten years before hahaha.
