Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some tracks can have several thousand ratings)
This track is rated in the top 1% of all tracks on BestEverAlbums.com. This track has a Bayesian average rating of 92.2/100, a mean average of 91.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 92.3/100. The standard deviation for this track is 11.0.

This one actually kind of had to grow on me, believe it or not. Hearing it outside the context of the album on the radio for years didn’t always do much for me. Luckily though, I turned the corner on that many moons ago.
Ziggy Stardust is pretty much a song like no other. That has a whole lot to do with the lyrical content being centered around the androgynous alien title figure, allowing for some truly strange but absolutely worthy wordsmithing. It’s also incredibly memorable musically.
I love this track too!.
The riff and rhymic and tonal changes make this song special.
It is sheavy and gentle
Another huge track.
Obra-prima!
I love this track - what an inspired little guitar riff.
"When the kids had killed the man I had to break up the band" - which is what he did the following year. If he thought playing Ziggy might kill him, the Thin White Duke was gonna try harder
The best song on the greatest album ever recorded
Definitive 70's riff driven rock 'n' roll
My favorite on the album
Perfect track in every way! Just a brilliant, awesome piece of music :)
David Bowie is perhaps the most complex, creative and all time greatest artist ever. Which means that trying to decide on a best song should be a nigh-on impossible task.
But I think I might have just found it with 'Ziggy Stardust'. It's unashamedly glam-rock, with gorgeous bright guitars that still sound glorious, a wonderful little story carefully placed into the track that could truly be applied to just about anyone famous, and at its shining core, Bowie's marvelous, delectable voice, that is at one of its strongest points right here. What a song.
