Favourite jazz. Just therapeutic and soothing like no other. Yeah, it's rather fantabulous. _________________

gets a little bit overrated 'cause people kinda use it as their token bossa nova album a lot of the time, but it's undeniably lovely.

It flows smoothly. But I have an uneasy feeling listening to it sometimes. It has been so smoothed around the edges that you feel the Brazilian touch in it has been trimmed down to abstract proportions. Evidently, what would be interesting in bossa to seasoned jazzmen in the US would have to be the composing skill, and it's probably (I'm not a musicologist and I know shit about composition technique) fascinating, but where's the life? Where's the people? Where's Brazil? Ah fuck it, I'll play it again and pour myself a Martini.
