Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 1% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 82.5/100, a mean average of 81.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 82.7/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.9.

What an atmosphere these musicians create! It is such a joy to be able to get completely lost amongst the vocals and instrumentation on this release with it being so incredibly relaxing. The performances are delicate and beautiful with some of the solos being simply phenomenal. The highlight for me is the stunning sax moments scattered amongst this whole release with Getz absolutely commanding this album. He adds so much colour to every track and demonstrates why he is considered one of the greatest to play the instrument. The ensemble behind him is brilliant also and they give the music such depth whilst maintaining a peaceful environment. The vocals are perfectly utilised as well with the two Gilberto voices combining so well whenever they appear. Overall, this is an album that you can listen to countless times and it will still create this serene atmosphere that you will be desperate to come back to.

What happens when the two of the most relaxed and chill genres combine? An undeniably cool album, especially with Stan Getz on sax and João Gilberto singing and plucking those strings away. What I love about these songs is the way Getz takes great care in where and when the notes are placed, an obvious veteran, even by this point. Excellent.

Classic fusion of Bossa and Jazz that I find so calming and soothing. Definite must-listen.
