Eh, forgot to do my rankings, not that they're a band I particularly care for. Surprised Ummagumma wasn't higher, but other than that it's pretty much what I expected (except for Meddle being so high, I guess). Interesting that more people voted Piper in first place than anything else, and that obviously those who prefer the post-Syd albums don't hold it in high enough regard for it to have made first place. Like, it's either somebody's favourite or otherwise quite far down the list, which makes a lot of sense but is interesting nonetheless. For what it's worth, it would have been my first place, but I can't complain about the eventual #1. Easily my favourite of the four post-Syd quote unquote classics (Dark Side, Animals, The Wall). _________________ 2021 in full effect. Come drop me some recs. Y'all know what I like.

Yeah that was a great surprise. Would have loved to see AHM a little higher though, but that's a very subjective choice.

Nope. that's completely ridiculous. I didn't hate it at all, but it was certainly nothing special. Good playing, but borderline elevator music.
Piper, on the other hand is a masterpiece. _________________ http://jonnyleather.com

The fact that The Wall placed sixth just proves how ridiculously underrated it has become in recent years. A backlash against it's well-deserved popularity. What a shame. _________________ Here's my 2014 chart

do tell what is so excellent about bloated, pompous rock arrangements, copious filler, and politics that even Fight Club would look down upon as juvenile?

I think it's funny that recent times have brought a backlash against The Wall for sounded bloated, and having ridiculous lyrics, but somehow The Doors has been once again put high on a pedestal.
I can't explain it, but I've always loved The Wall. Sometimes a big, over the top rock opera is exactly what I need. Gilmour's guitar playing is dope. And I love the cynical tone in Waters' vocals.
I've never thought this album as being as much political as it is a descent into madness. It's certainly not like American Idiot, but I can also accept that it's not anywhere near the lyrical realm of Dylan or Cohen.
What you call copious filler is nothing but a double album of good songs to me.
Also, It's excellent because I believe so. _________________ http://jonnyleather.com

Kind of agree with satie I think the best tracks on Wall are the ones that gilmour has input in writing. I used to hate all Floyd stuff but over the years I've changed my mind on some of it, to the point of thinking DSOTM is a masterpiece. Still deciding where I stand with wish you were here as the two waters cuts I'm not too sure about. Might stick it on now.
