I came across this: it's how track ratings are calculated

How is AV different from av? If anyone knows tell me, thanks.

I believe that av is specific to the track or the album you're looking at. AV is sitewide. For instance, if you're looking at an album that receives an average user score of 82, then av = 82. The average album rating on this site is something like 72. This is AV.

Tracks and albums have different averages. This is why the term "item" is used. Track ratings tend to be a lot higher.

i'm so happy i could cry. the hearing in my left ear, which has been at like 50% for a year is finally back (somehow magically ok), as well as this irritating ringing that's been going on is gone. well maybe not quite at 100% but very close and the noise is nigh gone. (i can finally listen to music with headphones properly again)

Congratulations man! I can't imagine how nice it must be regaining most of your hearing after it having been damaged for such a long period of time. Ought to listen to some favorites to experience them with good hearing again.

i am, spent a lot of time reading novels or manga before because it got so irritating. though if it was through speakers and really loud i couldn't tell much of a difference, in a quiet room or just trying to go to sleep it was unbearable for the longest time. so yeah it's a pretty damn good day.

Yeah, that was in response to some inquisition here about Pharmakon when Abandon started gaining hype. Pretty sure I still stand by that but I was planning on giving her newest, Abandon, and (my first experience with) Diamandas Galas all a try tomorrow morning. A couple days ago, I put on her newest for about two tracks before I was told to turn it off, but it seemed more promising than her previous album. I'll return tomorrow with my thoughts on her; as they stand, they're less than positive (and yes I enjoy some Kazumoto Endo/Killer Bug, Merzbow, Fuck Buttons, Boredoms, My Chemical Romance, and other noise so I have a right to say I don't like it).

Idk why there is any hype with her work. Its not even interesting within the realm of power electronics . its sucks seeing her get more attention then other much more deserving acts but i guess thats just the nature of pitchfork. I can see why pitchfork pushed her though, sees pretty easily marketable, a safe bet for a good rating.

anyways, enjoy this, its much better then what she puts out:

Very sad news indeed. One of JA's most prolific, versatile and best-loved singers. Jah Bless.

Wow, back when I wasn't really into music, I remember making fun of one of my friends for liking Police In Helicopter because I thought that song was totally stupid. Fun to see it brought back here, but not fun to see it's because of his death. I didn't know the Paragons, apparently they're a classic Jamaican band, I probably need them in my life.

I was revisiting some early New Order especially the non album stuff from Substance and Singles and realized that my favorite version of Temptation(12") isn't on either of them.
