Ryan Adams, prolific and heartfelt as his music can often be, has never made another album like Heartbreaker. In fact, it isn't until his last two, non-Taylor-Swift related studio albums that he has begun to be super consistent. Even then, no other album of his has songs as electrifying and raw as the deliberately lived-in Heartbreaker. This is as damn fine a record as any artist could hope to make.

One of my favorite albums of all-time, and criminally underrated on a grand scale. A truly heartbreaking, nuanced, and beautiful look into love and loneliness.
