Man, I so clearly remember the lead up to this album coming out on this site. There were people giving it 5-star ratings before they had even heard it, I think there was even a post someone made talking about how they already knew it was going to be the AOTY without hearing it, the hype was so insane that I don't think any album Arcade Fire put out would've satisfied it.
I desperately need to revisit Reflektor, I haven't given it a listen in a while, but I do remember really enjoying it. But it feels like it was the beginning of the era of diminishing returns from Arcade Fire, cause every album since has felt like a shadow of their prior genius. Not that Everything Now and We are bad, they're just kind of in the "oh that was enjoyable" realm of music

The last time an Arcade Fire album really felt like an event. And it's very good! Or at least it was when I listened to it a decade ago.
Track picks
1. Reflektor
4. Here Comes The Night Time
7. Joan Of Arc
10. It's Never Over (Hey Orpheus) _________________ Inversion Verses

Very interesting to read that thread 10 years later. I recall that I long intended to listen to this album, but never actually did. It seems pointless to do so now.

Holy fookin chicken wing that thread is an amazing BEA graveyard. Shame to think it's been that long when a single album or silly random topic could inspire a heated argument that lasts several hundred posts. Man that Saoirse was such a dumb biotch.
Yeah I haven't been back to this in awhile, remember the first couple of songs and "Afterlife" being really filthy and the rest kind of just licking the ass of better albums, so kind of just all over the place though I still admired the somewhat unfocused ambition.
