My dad likes to make the argument that The Police are the most dynamic group of their era, and it's not hard to see why. Across five exceptional albums in five years, the band start as an early new wave/post punk band and evolve into a legitimately interesting art rock group who've honed their pop appeal just as they hit their peak. If you listened to Outlandos d'Amour and skipped straight to Syncronicity, it'd almost be hard to believe that this was the same band, but even by Regatta de Blanc, this album was inevitable. And the results speak for themselves.
