Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 9% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 75.2/100, a mean average of 74.7/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 75.3/100. The standard deviation for this album is 18.6.

I guess it's experimental? I don't know, I think John Coltrane was making even wilder music around the same time.
Wow, this was incredible. My jaw was literally dropping at some of the sounds this man was making with his saxophone. I have been listening to a lot of jazz over the last month, trying to get a better appreciation for the genre, and this was both the most abrasive one I've heard while also being one of my immediate favorites.
This is post-music
it's called a head
an interesting idea to start out melodic, devolve into chaos, and then return to the melodic. Luckily, the chaos is the far greater portion, because it is also the best of the two. The little melodic intro and outro seems out of place, forced, and kinda uninspired. The middle two tracks are where he shines though
This man is a genius
Mesmerizing.
Radical album. I supposed that it's my fault and not the album's that I don't like, but a good album, in my opinion, can break down any barriers of the listener. The chaotic bits on here are just too much, I know it's not but it sounds like random playing of instruments. This album does have some conventional parts especially on Ghosts V:1 that I enjoyed quite a bit, but I just can't get into this album at all. I'm not demanding 4/4 Verse-Chorus-Verse-Chorus songs, I just need a little bit of structure.
Quite a tricky listen, although not as difficult as brotzmann's "machine gun".
