Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 2% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 78.8/100, a mean average of 77.9/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 79.2/100. The standard deviation for this album is 17.4.

More or less the same issue I had with Oceanic, namely the vocals, which I found extremely distracting.
Love the instrumentation, easy to get lost in it at times, its heavy yet dreamy. 50/50 on the vocals though.. I like the melodic bits, and even some of the yelling, but the screamo/black metal parts I don't care for very much... 7.5/8ish territory for me
Great album, too bad they can't do any more concerts in Paris.
Fuck it, I gave it a 100/100, it's basically essential.
This album is so damn close to an essential 100/100, I think "Altered Course" drags on for too long but besides that, the album it is absolutely amazing. Some gorgeous instrumentation here and atmospheric beauty.
Lyrics are Understandable, but in many ways is one of the best experimental metal albums ever with Oceanic.
The instrumentation is fantastic, but the vocals are sometimes not very good at all.
I was not expecting something this massive in sound. Definitely going to give it another listen sometime soon.
