'Melodies' in one of the most important pop albuns in the history of Japan. It was the 3rd number one for Yamashita in the Oricon charts, in a streak of sucess that shaped the sound of the 'city pop' aesthetics in the 1980s. Following 'Ride on Time' and 'For You', it's an album by a pop master, with an incredible ability to dictate what was the backbone of japanese pop at the time, with a virtuosity that inspired other chart-toppers throughout the decade. Smooth and flashy funk, soul ballands and a masterpiece of city pop: “Merry Go Round” (メリー・ゴー・ラウンド ). It's also the album that made Yamashita very rich, since "Christmas Eve", the song that closes it, is still one of the top played christmas songs of Japan, 35 years later.
