First listened to my Dad's vinyl of this and it blew me away! A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers is the greatest thing I had ever heard, and remains so to this day. [First added to this chart: 05/30/2019]

The Beatles at their best imo. It is so eclectic throughout and I love that they don't stick to a genre, there's quiet acoustic songs, there's upbeat rock numbers, there's blues, there's pop, there's little ditties and then there's Revolution 9! [First added to this chart: 05/30/2019]

I knew of Miley but had never really listened to her so listened to this through 'The Flaming Lips' and it stopped me in my tracks. It was one Sunday morning laid on the sofa and I stayed there from beginning to end, engrossed in this. It's my favourite ever collaboration and introduced me to Miley who has continued to break boundaries and explore genres. [First added to this chart: 05/30/2019]

I grew up on Nu Metal and this was always my favourite, it wasn't really nu metal to be honest, it just didn't fit into any other category! It was more psychedelic and kind of had its own vibe. Riz Story has such a great interesting voice and is one of the most underrated guitarists of all time. [First added to this chart: 09/06/2021]

This album is so eclectic and explores so many genres throughout the album (you can tell by now this statement features a lot throughout my top albums!) - it goes effortlessly from heavy rock to synth pop to hip hop and keeps you guessing what's going to happen next from beginning to end, incredible! Another very underrated artist, came across King Tuff whilst on my work commute (I would try and find a new album each day to listen to) through Ty Segall's link with him. I can't believe it wasn't / isn't talked about more, it takes you on a journey with some absolute bangers that I never get sick of and you really feel like you're in King Tuff's world! Saw him live at The Moth Club in London whilst touring this album and he smashed it! [First added to this chart: 05/30/2019]

Tony Mcphee is surely the most underrated guitarist of all time!? Obviously Split is the classic album by The Groundhogs (and it is incredible!) however this one has always resonated with me the most. There's not a bad song on it and the title track I believe is the best thing they ever did! I first listened to it whilst on holiday as a teenager after buying it on CD (2 pack twinned with Crosscut Saw) [First added to this chart: 05/30/2019]

You knew it was going to be here given my username!? So much has been talked about it that there's not much more to say. It sounds cliched and I've seen it said many times but this took me 3 listens before realising it was an absolute masterpiece. I discovered the Captain through my love of Zappa and listening to this as a teenager just blew my mind. I have still never heard anything quite like it (and I don't think we ever will!) Another album by the Captain completes my Top 10. This is the Captain at his most funky, for me it is the strangest, quirkiest, out there album that is still completely accessible and based in blues, rock and pop throughout. So many great songs, my favs being 'Low Yo Yo Stuff', 'Too Much Time', 'My Head Is My Only House' and the absolute classic 'Big Eyed Beans From Venus' [First added to this chart: 05/30/2019]

Interesting list. Fantastic variety covering a range of genres, styles and decades. I'm a big fan of SOAD so great to see the Hypnotize / Mezmerize albums in there. Also bravo for inclusion of Devo, Lily Allen and Split Enz. Great list.

Great list! Definitely not run-of-the-mill. Very eclectic and individual (the Beatles and Beefheart alongside... Miley?), with some artists I'm yet to discover. The kind of list that makes BAE so great.

Thanks for the rating and comment 'pctrooper', it's great to find people with similar tastes! I loved Pawn Hearts from the moment I heard it, Peter Hammill has got to be one of the greatest vocalists of all time?! I've always thought of 666 as an 'experience' rather than an album!haha! Same with Trout Mask Replica, I don't know why they grip me so much but they had such an effect on me, I'd never heard anything like it before (and probably haven't since!) Frank Zappa and Cpt Beefheart are always my go to artists if I need something to listen to. Also I saw Tony Mcphee live around 15 years ago and he played a lot of Split which was amazing!
Thanks again!

Excellent #1 choice. I also like Split quite a lot... and Devo is super cool. I've never been able to listen to 666 all the way through cause I get bored, but "The Four Horseman" is a good track. Same with Trout Mask Replica; I just lose interest in that album after 10 minutes or so, but I love "Ella Guru". Lots of great albums on here, though.
