Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 60.2/100, a mean average of 56.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 56.5/100. The standard deviation for this album is 18.7.

Oct19. It is pretty clear this album was not written for me or my generation that loved early Blink-182 and they have openly made it known it is for a modern audience. I loved 'California' with it's return of short, fast songs and humour. This is more of a return to their ST album, which is about my least favourite album of theirs.
1st listen and I started skipping tracks. The pop production and interference of electronics turned me off a lot of these songs (just like Foo Fighters' last album). The singers are too auto-tuned. Even the writing of songs has been done by pop and hip hop artists and it shows. (Just take a look at the number of contributors and producers. Holy shit. Somewhere in all this, Blink-182 is lost).
Some of these are decent pop songs, but I could not wait to get to the 50 second 'Generational Divide'. When they released this before the album it got my hopes up. Other releases did not, though 'Darkside' grew on me. A few 'heavier' sounds in second half. 'Pin the Grenade' has a cool, upbeat vibe on the chorus. 'No Heart to Speak Of' also has a soaring chorus but verses get lost in electronic 'effects'. 'Ransom' finishes well. Even the slow 'Remember to Forget Me' starts as if it were 'Stay Together for the Kids' and then electronic beats come in half way through…
I for one would like to have heard the songs they had written themselves before scrapping them to start over with contributing writers. I know some of these will grow on me, but it feels like the little punk they had is dead here. It's not a bad album, it is just not the album I wanted from these guys. 3/5
So AVA is finna put out the best album Tom has had anything to do with and blink has........ the same song roughly playing for an hour straight? This honestly shouldn't be Blink-182, Blink is Mark Tom and Travis, if they wanted to keep making music, retire the Blink-182 name, it was such a perfect name until 2016
It's actually not nearly as bad as I expected
