Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 73.5/100, a mean average of 71.8/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 73.5/100. The standard deviation for this album is 18.7.

First few songs are absolute killers which you hope sets the albums tone. Unfortunately quality dips a bit after them. Not saying they're bad, just nowhere near as good. When released, it had a fresh sound as a whole compared to what else was out there. Still good but hasn't aged well.
I 'm sorry to say that the vocals spoiled the whole thing for me, sadly they were distracting and annoying, I couldn't even notice what else was going on
This is the Kings of Leon that are worth it. you can still feel a more spontanious, raw nature to their music. The first half is GREAT, right from the opening son Slow night So Long, until the already established anthem The Bucket. This could have beeen one of the greatest album of the decade, but it really stars to vanish after Soft, so the last minutes are pretty unmemorable. Still an amazing album and the best one by KOL (years light ahead from their last raleases)
Fav Tracks: Slow Night So Long, Taper Jean Girl, Milk and The Bucket
Brings back some good memories, but "aaaah yo!".
It dated, and became an average 00's garage rock album made by some bunch of teenage pricks who just discovered alcohol.
Though it doesn't add anything new to it's extensive genre, it's a fun listen, it's better counterpart is probably The Woods by Sleather-Kinney, but that doesn't matters right now.
To me it's a solid listen, quite enjoyable, recommended to guys who listen to garage rock.
Most of the songs lacks of a chorus, which is replaced by some interesting guitar passage. The album is quite fun, but ain't much more.
Rock fans were eager for a decent Rock band in the early 2000's. At this point all there was on offer was screamy punk rock like My Chemical Romance or no fat fast rock like The Strokes.
So people jumped on Kings of Leon. Their first two albums aren't that good and overrated.
They are weirdly delivered garage rock if that garage was made in a southern USA wheat field.
There are highlights where hook and raw weirdness combine.
Taper Jean Girl, The Bucket, and Razz are pretty cool.
Under that Radar rock rock fans will spout crazy love for Kings of Leon's first 2 albums.
When really their best stuff is Because of the Times and Only the Night
One of the best albums of the 2000's IMO. Belongs to the top 100-150 un my opinion. Has a great mood!
Great record. The last 2 (3 if including bonus track) songs are weak compared to the rest of the album though (They're still good songs but just not as good). The album should finish at four kicks. Too bad Kings of Leon went downhill since Because of the Times.
Good garage rock revival/indie rock/alternative rock album. Best 10 songs average is 81,7/100 and the album can get good 80/100. Best songs are "Taper jean girl" and "Razz" both 85/100. All other songs good 80/100. I guess you get more and more into the album, band and sound by listening a few more times. The singers voice is good.
okay but pretty tame. not much special here to talk about, just another fairly catchy record.
