Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 73.4/100, a mean average of 73.1/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 73.5/100. The standard deviation for this album is 11.8.

Phenomenal. This and his 2nd are so beautiful.
A surprisingly good album. There are points where his youth shows but I thought it would be much more juvenile. Tim uses his accented voice like on Hello Goodbye and I prefer his more free vocals that started on Happy Sad but they're still fantastic vocals. He puts together some really nice melodies and you can occasionally get a glimpse at the vocal range that he would become known for. The songwriting is also pretty good, especially considering these are the words of a high-schooler. Buckley's 12-string sounds great ("Valentine Melody") but Beckett's electric guitars are superb on this. It's good enough to steal the show on some songs. "Strange Street Affair Under Blue" is my favorite. The first half is better than the second.
An okay debut. Very Roy Orbison vocally but Buckley's best is definitely yet to come.
