Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 3% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 77.3/100, a mean average of 76.7/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 77.8/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.3.

This is hard to rate because the guitars are fantastic but that's all there is. I don't mean it like it's not enough but occasionally it feels more like a talent show than an album to me. With that said, the guitar playing is inventive and original. The melodies are catchy on each song. There aren't any lapses that bore the listener. It all sounds great. "The Death of Clayton Peacock" is my favorite song. It sounds like it could be adapted into a pretty great rock song. "Come Back Baby" sounds a lot like "Pledging My Time" by Bob Dylan. I know it's somewhat of a standard but I wonder if Bob had heard it before recording.

Definitely one of the most interesting guitar instrumental albums EVER! Let me be the first to proclaim this The First Lo-fi Indie Rock Masterpiece. At least for patches. Because this album is completely schizophrenic. Juxtaposing haunting, acid-fried, Eastern-influenced guitar screeds that would make even Mary Timony & Polvo proud with patriotic Apalachian back porch, pass the Busch Lite ditties. And I love how he interrupts one recording tho shush his barking dog. Just classic. Also has some of the best blues guitar playing this white boy has ever heard. Fans of Red House Painters, Palace & all things guitar should take note. Pass the moonshine.
