Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 2% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 79.4/100, a mean average of 79.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 79.7/100. The standard deviation for this album is 12.6.

I rarely listen to a familiar album twice through, without a break.
This is one of Wonder´s big 5. (1972-6). It is, therefore a musical masterpiece.
How often do I listen to a familiar album twice in a row if it is by Stevie Wonder? Almost never.

Sorry for my first comment on this album, it was made when I was new to this website and was making too many comments on albums I didn't know well enough...

This album is really good and, on the opposite of what I said, it is consistent. Definitely a must-have for any Stevie Wonder fan. Great album!

This album is from the golden period, and it has clearly a softer touch and many songs are about love.
It is also an album the is mostly forgotten, unnecessarily so. This is a very easy album to get like and approach.
Some may think that as a weakness, no, it serves a purpose. Life is not always grim and sad. Bringing love to life is always a good thing.

@bonnequestion Creepin made you lower the album's rating? Crazy. To me it's one of Stevie's best.. Eerie and sexy groove from which emerges a genius melody. So brilliantly arranged too.
While not his strongest - probably lacks ambition, certainly lacks cohesion - I feel this one is Stevie's steviest album from the golden period.

This album suffers the same problem as "Music Of My Mind", its inconsistency. The first 5 songs are ordinary, the last 5 are really great. I really like "They Won't Go When I Go", this is Stevie at his best. In fact, the whole second side of the album is great and if he could have kept the pace for the entire album, it would be ranked a lot higher. But unfortunately, songs like "Too Shy To Say" and "Creepin'" make me lower my rate. Still a good album by a great mind though.

This feels like the hidden gem in Stevie Wonders catalogue I have always loved this album and would rate it higher than Talking Book but below Innervisions, Music Of My Mind & Songs In The Key Of Life. It is the 4th Wonder album in my top 100 he is a genius. This album has a great mix of styles which he would further expand on in Key Of Life. Side 2 for me (6-10) was always slightly stronger than Side 1, I love the closing 3 tracks along with "You Haven't Done Nuthin" & "Boogie On Reggae Woman", Ceeepin' & It Ain't No Use are also 90/100

Fulfillingness first finale, always seems to be the forgotten album in that stunning run of LP's in the early/mid seventies, and in truth, it's not quite as brilliant as those other records. Still, it's a good album featuring some classic songs, including the funky Richard Nixon rant, you ain't done nothin', heaven is 10 zillion light years away, and, boogie on reggae woman. Another good record, at this time Stevie Wonder was unstoppable.

I would consider this album to be very underrated. A deserving Grammy winner for album of the year not in the top 1500? Not in the top 20 for 1974?

Overall it is a very good album. Not my favorite from Stevie, but very nice work nonetheless. Some fantastic instrumentation and vocal performances on here. They Won't Go When I Go is a hidden gem in Stevie's catalog.
