Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 70.7/100, a mean average of 68.9/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 70.3/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.8.

2014 saw a lot of EDM artists trying to pake something big, or personal, and I guess the world realized that was never what was any fun about EDM.
For deadmau5... he tried. His fans will enjoy one or two tracks on this tracklist; people who don't think much of him probably won't be persuaded by this one. It isn't the masterpiece he hoped for. I think the lesson to learn from this is that the masterpiece EDM album is gonna sound like an EDM album, and not a prog rock album... so don't compare yourself with prog rock standards when trying to make the best EDM album. "The first real album I made" isn't as much self-aggrandizement as an insult to the genre he himself inhabits...

...a fucking white album, are you serious?
while(1<2) greatly expanded mau5's work outside four to the floor dance music, featuring more electronica and industrial inspired tracks. Expertly balancing dance floor killers ("Aviritia", "My Pet Coelacanth", "Infra Urbo Pigcart Racer", "Phantoms Can't Hang", "Gula", and others), with his electronica tracks ("Ice Age", "Terrors in My Head", "Creep", "Somewhere Up Here", "Silent Picture", "Rlyehs Lament", "A Moment to Myself", etc.), and even a big radio hit in "Seeya", mau5 shows his ambitions for his music while proving he can still make the type of music that he built his name on. Showing that his career so far has only been a taste of what he can accomplish, while(1<2) is a triumph.
Too long for its own good, but far more accomplished than any of his other work, While (1<2) is a fantastic EDM album. Deadmau5 does his usual job of including a range of styles, but this time it all feels like a proper album, compared to his other works which tend to feel more like compilations.
It's an interesting approach from Deadmau5. "The first album [he’s] ever done that [he] would even call an album.” Although it departs in some way from Ultra Festival Music Lovers, it shows great ambition and depth, specially in the "more boring" second disc.
Avaritia, Phantoms Cant Hang, Invidia and Infra Turbo Pigcart Racer, best tracks in there.
