Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 9% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 75.2/100, a mean average of 77.1/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 77.1/100. The standard deviation for this album is 8.4.

To say the Memphis rap scene has not been my field of expertise would be quite an understatement. This was uncharted territory for me, but my initial expectations were comfortably exceeded and I consider the production as the key factor. This is another album whose primary focus is to create a very specific atmosphere right off the bat and never let go through its whole running time, which by the way went by unbelievably fast. I thought there were at least three more tracks remaining and it was already over. Another strong point of the album connected to the previous observation is its exemplary display of the power of repetition, it draws you in and you don't even notice until it's too late. There are various background noises, loud enough to notice them, but at the same time blurred enough to keep you guessing. What I enjoyed the most, however, is the approach it used to get to the above mentioned outcome. It doesn't try to force matters by getting too aggressive or violen,t it has this chill yet dark and creepy vibe that keeps you on the on the edge of your seat nonetheless, it's more like a sophisticated horror movie that confirms the old saying "the threat is stronger than the execution" than an in your face splatter. Rapping and especially lyrics -for the most part I didn't even pay attention to what he was saying to be honest - wouldn't be too special on their own, but in this particular environment they work a treat. Not sure how I could choose some high moments or a favorite track, as it is impressively consistent, maybe I'd go with Smokin' Treez if I had to.
To sum it up, too bad the Halloween is over, now I'll have to wait almost a full year.
