Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 71.6/100, a mean average of 71.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 71.0/100. The standard deviation for this album is 18.9.

There are some real standouts on the album, but I can't help but feel a slight cringe listening to them now. I get what he's going for, and I'm not against it but sometimes it just feels a bit... I dunno over the top I guess. I find his debut far superior as it delves more thoroughly into his past, and the uplifting moments seem more balanced and less... over the top. Not that he doesn't talk about his past. Fatima is necessary story for him to tell. It's good that he moves on and raps about more everyday topics for life in North America, but I find tracks like I come prepared and Bang Bang to be just decent. I really respect K'naan, but I think it's just sort of the nature of his narrative that his most important material was told first.
His politics and message have garnered comparisons to Bob Marley, and I have to admit that his music just makes me feel good, in a similar one-world-solidarity-and-happiness sort of way.
