Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 56.4/100, a mean average of 55.9/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 55.9/100. The standard deviation for this album is 19.3.

Boy does this album get a kicking. As others have said before and will say after, Coldplay know how to divide a room. When U2 and Simple Minds became stadium acts did they get such a kicking? Maybe they did. The thing is, bands and solo artists have to develop and move on, if every Coldplay album sounded like their first three, that would be boring, and yes, I do like it.
This album was made to be played in big concerts, the use of lyrical devices like “Oh, oh, oh, oh” and “Woo-hoo” in most of the songs makes it good for that, but bland, trivial and nothing memorable too.
I like Coldplay - but they do divide the room don't they - lol.
To be fair I have listened to this a few times but not recently before giving this score and review, and only really tune I can recall is Army of One but I had enjoyed it and place it as an enjoyable and good album but not blowing me away.
forgettable, but not horrible
Weakest album but still consistently good
Not as good as some of their other albums but still a good listen.
I miss the old Coldplay. Some songs are totally bad
Chris Martin have said that he no more cares if people think their music is great or not. Well, it is sadly not great anymore.
A Ghost Of X&Y To The Head Full Of Dreams Or Mylo Xyloto And All His Parachutes was a pretty Coldplay sounding Coldplay.
Coldplay in this album, Coldplay the Coldplay out of their Coldplays. Other great Coldplay that you can give to Coldplay, is their Coldplay to Coldplay. The Coldplay was great, the Coldplay and the Coldplay was also very Coldplay and Coldplay...
I give it a solid Coldplay/10
