Coldplay knows a good tune and their success has last for quite some time now.

It is all deserved. Every album released is at it's worst pleasant (Most of XY) and at it's best--chills inducing (Fix You, Death and All His Friends)

They are the closest band I have seen at being successful in their attempt at being everything to everyone. They own their mass appeal and attempt to make and write songs universally relatable.

It can come across as dis-ingenious and too private not letting the listeners into their personal highs and lows.

Coldplay is wise in knowing they are big in this world but the world is still bigger than them. Their music communicates this.

England currently has a 3 headed musical government.

Radiohead is King
Muse is the muscle--the military
Coldplay is the Diplomat---It's All About the Togetherness

Well, that comment was really useless, but here's the real opinion of the band.
Could have been a great brit pop band aclaimed by great music critics, but what are they doing right now it's alright, they are still popular it would be bad if with the new things they do they were forgotten.
Coldplay's really good, but they could do better things.

This band grew up really bad, they should have stopped on Viva La Vida.
Parachutes is still one of my favorite childhood albums to date

First three albums were brilliant, 4 one was good, and since then they have been ok but forgettable.

In the grand scheme of things, they made 3 wonderful albums, 1 album that is just good, and 3 albums that felt like missteps filled with pap. While it was never really original, they used their influences to their advantage and I can go back and listen to any of the first four albums without feeling a sense of burden.

While I don't find their lyrics to be deep, and their sound is obviously borrowing from Radiohead and U2, I find that these guys are OK. I used to hate this band simply because they were mainstream, but upon listening to their early music, I discovered it was the most completely human music I had ever listened to. Not my favorite by a long shot, but all right by me.

Marrtin is one of the best front mans nowadays. I don't like the last album (Ghost Stories). The other works were a continue evolution and artistically improvement under all the aspects. But Please change the bassist....By the way they're are the biggest Rock band of the 2000's
