Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. Bought this album on the back of Let My People Go-Go in 1986, remember loving it then. Vinyl drifted out but when I got my new record player 4 or 5 years back this was one of the first albums to get a play. Four out of five strong opening tracks and then a mix of good and above average. Still like it a lot and one you might if you like your rock a little countryfied!
First 3 tracks are very strong - great music and great thought - provoking lyrics. However, the CD trails off rapidly after that.
