This has been my favourite album since the first time I heard it in High School circa 1979. The Wagner/Hunter double guitar virtuousity pushes this already great setlist to legendary heights. Best. Live. Ever. [First added to this chart: 06/08/2013]

Was always keen on the Clash. Give em Enough Rope and their debut album were staples but this was a marvel to me. Everything I ended up liking in music for the next 2 decades dovetailed from this album. [First added to this chart: 06/08/2013]

For many years, Hunky Dory was my favourite Bowie album. Then slowly I began to realize what a genius work Low was. Even after all these years, this album flies too low under the radar compared to many other Bowie discs. [First added to this chart: 06/08/2013]

Amazing album from another artist who never really got his due. His great simple melodies coupled with ferociously witty lyrics make this and other Zevon works among my all-time repeat listens. [First added to this chart: 07/21/2013]

Local [Montreal by way of Edmonton] surf/punk/gospel/garage band that wrote snd played the entire soundtrack for my university years. This band never lacked for great material, fantastic musicians and a front man that most bands would kill for. Plus had the bass player as a week-long test subject when I worked at a Pharma-research company in the 80s. [First added to this chart: 06/08/2013]

Another link to my storied university days. No one has heard of these guys who didn't live in Montreal or Vermont circa 1988. Drove from Toronto to Montreal to catch their farewell concert at Station 10 where they sang non-stop for 3 hours - maybe the greatest single show I'd ever seen. Husker Du to Bob Mould solos to this masterpiece. Never gets old after many years of repeated plays. One great song right into another. Originally only had the cassette and didn't realize how great the side with Hoover Dam was for months! [First added to this chart: 06/08/2013]

Most Matt Johnson fans would name Soul Mining as his best but I think this as well as Dusk are far more mature and consistent works. The prophetic Sweet Bird of Truth really stands out on an exceptional setlist. [First added to this chart: 06/08/2013]

Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 87.0/100, a mean average of 86.7/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 87.3/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 9.0.

We might only have 2 albums in common (The Clash & Midnight Oil), but I love your chart ~ it made me smile as I scrolled through the list. Loved seeing The The & (of course) the Aussie bands. Also loved seeing some unknown Canadian bands that I will certainly check out. I love the honesty in your chart.

Interesting chart. I agree Infected is the best The The album. Very underrated in my opinion.I like the affection for local bands that you enjoyed seeing live...something that influences my appreciation of artists works. Cool to see Hoodoo Gurus and The Divinyls.

What awesome taste you have. Mirror Moves. Blondie, New Gold Dream, Pretenders, all the correct Lou Reed albums, Teenage Head, Nash the Slash, Shriekback. It's unbelievable. I love it.

Really really cool chart with loads of hidden gems and not obvious choices. Only criticism would be maybe a neglect of the post 80s? But otherwise love this chart's uniqueness

I very much like your chart and I definitely will have to check out of some of your Canadian picks. By the way I love the Courtneys and The Sadies, also Canadians for this year 2017.
