Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some tracks can have several thousand ratings)
This track is rated in the top 2% of all tracks on BestEverAlbums.com. This track has a Bayesian average rating of 85.8/100, a mean average of 85.7/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 86.8/100. The standard deviation for this track is 12.2.

This is stunning and easily the best track on the LP.
Between moments of Gabriel delivering soft vocals over acoustic guitar strums and moments of Banks going crazy on the Mellotron while the rest of the rhythm section provides powerful backing, Stagnation goes all over the place. Beautiful in some areas and rocking in others, it never stays in one spot for too long. It probably would have benefited from allowing the more rock-y moments to develop further, but the final product is certainly still worth your time. One of Trespass' better tunes.
Part of this song (around the 7 minute mark onward) was used by Genesis in their melodies of old songs right up through their last tour.
