Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some tracks can have several thousand ratings)

I believe this is the greatest rock song ever for many reasons:
1. Some say Free Bird is the best for it's guitar solo. In my opinion, a rock song isn't JUST about the guitar, but everything in the song. The voice: Plant. The lyrics: beautiful. The drumming: great. The guitar: also great. The layout: also great again.
2. The song is widely known as the greatest rock song ever to many Zeppelin fans.
3. 15,000 music sheets for Stairway are sold every year to young guitarists.
4. In the Wayne's World movie, guess what song Wayne wanted to play on his new guitar? Stairway, because Stairway is an icon, the greatest icon in rock. And nothing will change that until somebody writes a better rock song, which may never happen.
