Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 72.6/100, a mean average of 71.8/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 72.6/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.7.

As a stand alone album this is pretty decent, in comparison to the debut it is pretty poor.

Looking back now, the 4-5 year wait after the debut seemed like a lifetime and it ended in disappointment of course, but when I think of music 5 years ago from today it only seems like yesterday - the joys of getting old I suppose!

Overall, this should've been much better, the debut is magnificent but so are a lot of the b-sides from that time too, and the lengthy lay off it seems to me dramatically affected this album.

So underrated, love Begging You, and the riff on Driving South and really the whole song is amazing! I think people are/were more focused on all the other stuff going on in 1994 with movies and music, compared this to their excellent debut, and just said, "eh, its ok."

A very underrated album. Personally, I prefer this to the debut as I feel that I may have heard the first album a bit too much."Breaking Into Heaven" is a perfect album opener and I love pretty much every other song on the album. The only track that I would say is much weaker than the rest is "Straight to the Man" which isn't an awful song by any means.

How do you follow The Stone Roses Debut album?? This album was deemed a flop by critics but it was just different to the first. more guitars, much more guitars.
Good Times has always been one of my favourite tunes.

Excellent album, but released at the wrong time and far too late, which seems to have affected it's reputation
