Some of us participate on this site using computers that aren't ours (like at work 🤐 ) and can't chose the software installed on it...

yes, that's the main reason I'll make sure this gets fixed. In the meantime, if your computer isn't totally locked down, you should be able to set compatibility view from the 'Page' menu when you visit the site.
FWIW, 10% of BEA's visits are from IE (all versions), 19% from Safari, 27% from Firefox, and 38% from Chrome. (3% of IE's visits are IE 10).
