this would probably be terrifying under the influence of psychedelics

Totally agree with Squishy's thoughts. Trippy albums take you somewhere otherworldly. And they on psychedelics to sake you there. You're going, regardless.

here's something new that is totally trippy as hell

I'll admit I've listened to Blue whilst tripping balls before but it was more for its calming lack of trippiness due to a need for a change of pace after something that blew my mind. There are some quirky little parts but nothing that makes me go harder. Lmao.

With that said when I think "trippy" I don't necessarily think of music Ive tripped to. I think something along the lines of "what the fuck? That's weird." It doesn't necessarily have to be psychedelic but it has to be mind bending in a way
Most good IDM and post rock have that trait. Jazz can be trippy as fuck.

Ah. I was more defining "trippy" as "albums that are good to listen to while tripping", and Blue's pretty high on my list as far as that goes. I guess it depends on how you define it.

Favorite one to trip to is In the Court of The Crimson King by King Crimson. Also a good current one is Centerfold by MOTHXR.

Most of these are, appropriately, psychedelic rock/pop.

Vision Creation Newsun by Boredoms
Quite a fun album! A whirlwind of trippy effects, electronics, and crazy guitar and drum playing. There's few albums that sound like this.

Satori by Flower Travellin' Band
Acid-filled rock from 1971. Much heavier than anything recorded around that time.

666 by Aphrodite's Child
A pretty well-known double album full of psychedelic imagery, singing, and effects.

Os Mutantes by Os Mutantes
A 60's Portuguese psychedelic pop/rock band. The best of its kind.

Cottonwoodhill by Brainticket
This album is so trippy it becomes frightening at times. I've yet to warm up to it myself after discovering it here on BEA, but it's certainly an interesting listen.

Iron Curtain Innocence by Bobb Trimble
1980's psychedelic pop/rock. The vocals sound like an evil fairy (though it's 100% a guy singing), and the guitar playing creates a sort of mystical but frightening atmosphere.
