Rocka, I loved that Kiran J Callinan album, he's got a great sense of humour.
LittleM - How could I forget the Go Betweens? I'm not actually overly familiar with their music, but they've got some great tunes, Streets of Your Town being the obvious one. Incidentally that track inspired Courtney Barnett's Depreston. Her album being another great one that you mentioned.
Dingerbell - that Drones album is sick! I saw them on the tour for it, and they killed. Still one of the best gigs I've been to, and it was only in a little punk venue.
I struggled to find whole albums I liked prior to 1977. There's AC/DC albums, but they're not really my cup of tea. So, prior to 1977 I start looking for Greatest Hits albums, and even then sometimes it's only a handful of songs that I like, from artists like The Easybeats, Daddy Cool, Little River Band, Renee Geyer, Skyhooks.
Here are some greatest hits albums I checked out this week. I was surprised how many Little River Band songs I knew. Kind of comparable to the Eagles. Apparently Glen Frey thought they were the best vocal harmony band in the world, and the harmonies are pretty impressive.
This is kind of like Tom Petty in that these songs were all over the radio, and I took them for granted, and now I don't listen to the radio, so I need this. Kind of jangly power pop, they started out a bit more 60's inspired and got a bit heavier as their career progressed. Always likeable.
Australian neo-psychedelic scene is pretty strong, with bands like Tame Impala, Pond and King Gizzard and The Lizzard Wizzard. _________________ All time
Delta Goodrem has a lovely voice.
She won't score highly on hip and cool points but she is talented.
Totally love Courtney Barnett and Tame Impala too, And I loved INXS and Men At Work in the 80s.

I know Crowded House are from New Zealand and I love Don't Dream It's Over, Weather With You and Italian Plastic plus many others of theirs. Plus Neil Finn's other band Split Enz (already mentioned by Bobby) did the classic I Got You, which has a great video.
