I really hated the last bit as it kept on referring to vomit.
Otherwise I'm looking forward to another listen. I think I like Flying Microtonal Banana better (only one I've heard this year).
Got halfway though Sketchs of East Brunswick, and liked that better too.
Idk... part of me just wasn't into the whole satan thing and stuff. Not that I'm for or against satanism or talking about it, it's just you gotta be in the mood to think about it or whatever. I suppose a Jesus album would be the same. Sometimes any mention of Jesus drives me crazy and then other times it seems sincere and part of the human thing. But a whole album talking about Satan related stuff gets a bit old for the mood I'm in right now.

Although this album doesn't feel like it has any "hits", it feels like the most consistent album he's released. That's one thing I had a hard time with Alt-J... his style seems all over the place.
This has a nice consistent feel to it.

I was really turned off by this album. Unique for sure, but I've just never really liked the whole, my closets have rooms and my rooms have rooms and my mansions have mansions. He said some other dumb thing - don't remember it now.
What I usually like from rap music is the lyrics are real and cutting. Maybe I need to give it another listen, but I just didn't get that vibe from this album (probably missed something since it is all the rave this year according to the charts).
I had to look up what line in what song you were referencing there, because I couldn't remember. Yeah, he's talking about living in his huge mansion in a song that's about isolation, and how he isn't the way people think he is. It's an album about coming to terms with who you are, and easily his most mature album to date.

I also vaguely remember another rapper doing it to show off, so I made that connection instead.
I guess better question for you Tha1ChiefRocka... give me something you love about the record? I mean finding that on my own is a thing, I get that, but if I am having a hard time liking something, I often try and remove my prejudice and try and understand what someone likes about it, if you would please :).

BTW the album is at no. 20 on my 2017 list, so it's not like I'm head over heels for it. I have several albums ranked higher (I would suggest listening to the Brockhampton albums, and Open Mike Eagle at some point) but I still enjoyed it, because Tyler has continued to show progression in his abilities. We've come a long way from Goblin.

I haven't been terribly good at keeping this up to date. I've been listening to 2017 albums but not writing about them and get lost where I left off and the such.
Anyway, listening to Spoon's album for the first time. So far it seems interesting, but obviously hasn't grown on me yet.
Anyway, I wanted to recap my King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard journey.
They have released 4 albums this year!!! Crazy. I only really got into them recently. Typical psychedelic music (post 60s/70s) can be not my thing. I have yet to really like an album of Animal Collective for example. Tame Impala on the other hand I've gotten into.
This band though... they have a bit of a jam band mixed with Jazz mixed with psychedelic tenancies and it's the perfect mix for me in that regard. It's just weird enough and just jazzy enough, and just jam band enough. Like nothing seems over exploited, so that's what I like.
What I don't like, is while each of these four albums do have a more or less unique feel to them, overall it can feel a bit same same. I mean so can the first few beatle albums.
I think I've listened to a couple of these twice. I'll probably list these out in order of ease of listening? idk
This album seems the most accessible. Doom city has a bit of that stoner metal sound. Rattlesnake sounds like it could have been done by a band like The Strokes. There's a few "hits" on this record.
Flying Microtonal Banana by King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard
This album was easily the most upbeat of all the albums. Less doom/satan and more lively. I probably should have noticed which songs I liked more than others, but didn't, even though I listened to it twice. I remember there were a couple songs that started out with really cool bass/guitar parts.
Sketches Of Brunswick East by King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard With Mild High Club
As the name suggests, this seemed the most mathematical to me. Almost like a Bach or Mozart piece. I mean not really, but the mathematical approach somehow clicked when I heard the name. At the same time, a lot of their music takes that approach, so probably doesn't mean anything. Really liked the opening track.
Polygondwanaland by King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard
This seemed to have the most intriguing theme and focus. As I said before the vomiting at the end just was a bit too much for me. The music/voice-over itself wasn't bad just the content.

There were a couple catchy pop songs on here, but nothing of the sort we have had from her before. Still quality we'd expect from her, but just a bit average/below average on the song writing. I'm imagining an older woman who is a big fan still being really into it.
Saw her live. She's a very good musician.
