lol of course there won't be any years from this century in the finals (this is not a comment on the quality of those years, I voted 2016)
The top 3 from this poll will move on so there is still time for other years to get more votes although there are a couple with a big lead on the rest. _________________ Attention all planets of the solar federation: We have assumed control.
I wonder if over time the reputation of the 2000s and 2010s will go up. They don't seem to be very popular on this site at least. A lot of times your opinion of decades improves over time. Sometimes you develop a taste for a genre of music that you didn't have before, and then a certain decade starts looking better to you. Who knows, maybe someday I'll develop a taste for Bro-Country or screeching Divas or teen-age Korean girl groups. You never know. Stranger things have happened.

I certainly cringed at a lot of 80's stuff for a long time, and have come to discover a lot that I like from the decade in recent years. I've also reached a degree of self-acceptance and admitted to myself that I liked some things that weren't cool to like. The passage of time helps. I can only imagine it will be the same for 00's and 10's.

The 2000's are technically my formative years as a child and teenager, but I have maybe the least connection to the music of this time period. There are certain trends in music that happened in the decade that make a lot of what was popular at the time sound like old hat already. I kind of want to make a list of all the things that I don't care for to further articulate why I feel this way.

Well, you're not incorrect as far as I'm concerned, everything sounds old hat the second that it comes out these days.. Usually you have to wait 10 years before the music starts to sound old hat and campy, but nowadays the very minute that a song comes out it already sounds dated and crummy..
1994 has my all time favorite album, Grace, and 1997 has a top 10 entry with The Colour And The Shape (and OK Computer is also high on my list), but top to bottom I haven't found a ton of '90s albums I adore. I love some albums from 2007, including my favorite Radiohead release, but I struggled to enjoy as many there as in '06 or '16. 2006 finds more albums in my all-time top 100 than '16, so that'll be my pick. Each of the following albums have had a large impact in my life since their release 12 years ago.
