Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 4% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 76.9/100, a mean average of 76.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 77.2/100. The standard deviation for this album is 19.0.

very cool, dark album. Musically a little bit to flat
This album expresses so well how it feels to be a woman; particularly the negative side of being a woman. Not to mention it's musically beautiful and very heavy.
Frascilita ...
This really starts to strike out on its own with Geek the Girl then Just Geek. I missed out on this because this was already such a great year for music. I'm listening now.
Her voice and the way she decided to develop her sound really touch the heart. The music is warm and able to share her feelings; probably the most complete example of American songwriting of the 90s.
the first time i listened to this album i was in my car, driving on the highway. halfway through "...a psychopath" i had to pull over to the side of the rode because the emotional intensity of the song, with it's backing track of a real-life 911 call, got me choked up. the rest of the album showcases Lisa's ability to marry cheerful words with dark music, and vice versa.
Lisa Germano's voice has a very haunting quality which makes her music almost otherworldly. This is a very beautiful album.
This is my favourite girl's folk album, her voice is so cute! Isn't it?
Harrowing, allegorical, introspective and self-referential, 'Geek The Girl' is reminiscent of a 'Dante-esque' ending to a thriller. Reviving the lugubrious nightmares of Nico and the sad fables of Leonard Cohen, Germano's world is a deeply unsettling one. The album is steeped in a kind of atmosphere of insecurity and madness which seems to be both heartfelt and personal but is expressed in a way that relates to the stories of women the world over.
Its a very good album
