Great Synth-Pop/ Ethereal Wave stuff that at times sounds like it could have been released this decade. I'll have to check out their EP that Videoheadcleaner rated much higher than this one. I might listen to it again right now.
Hanne Hukkelberg- Rykestrasse 68
Deep Puddle Dynamics - The Taste of Rain... Why Kneel?
The Conet Project (This is almost 5 hours long, so keep that in mind)
Artificial Brain - Labyrinth Constellation
Hector Zazou- Songs From The Cold Seas
Pieter Nooten & Michael Brook - Sleeps With The Fishes
Bataille Solaire- Dolby's ON
Gianni Gebbia- Gianni Gebbia
The Siddeleys โโ Sunshine Thuggery
Psycho Realm - A War Story Book I
You can tell these guys dabbled in no wave. I havenโt encountered an album quite like this, so I guess itโs some kind of intermediate between new wave and noise rock? The tunes were great, but I feel like thereโs a lot buried behind that massive reverb monolith. Perhaps, too much. Overall, it was nice to explore another corner of the 80s scene.

This a hard one to rate. There's a lot of well-executed things on the record and a lot of things that didn't quite hit the mark. The inasrumentation was great and her voice was adequate ( although dangerously close to the affectation that I don't care for). Maybe her later albums refine some elements.
Im on mobile, so im keeping this minimal. 1985 is such a great year, and Rain Dogs is one of my favorites.

Not bad...not really my sort of thing but there was something about it musically that kept my attention for the whole album (maybe the dash of quirkiness), the emotional lyrics were decent, and the vocal performance seemed heartfelt and sincere. I got a bit of a Regina Spektpr vibe from it, which isn't a bad thing. I've got a feeling it would be a bit of a grower on me if I still repeat listened to albums a lot more than I do now. 7.5/10 and 16/20 for 2012.
Rocka The Siddeleys sound interesting and it's only a 4 track EP so no harm done if it's not. I would suggest listening to their compilation, Slum Clearance, which contains all four of these tracks but I don't know how as it doesn't seem to be on spotify or youtube.

Bahahaha! This was stunning! Tom Waits has languished in my queue longer than most...I knew Iโd enjoy his later output more than his mid-70s stuff, so what a shame I waited so long. This needs a few more attentive listens so that I can pick up on more of whatโs going on, but I canโt fault a single track and this wonโt be a problem. This is Beefheart, Dr. John, and Leon Russell rolled up into one smooth spliff...fantastic.
Waits (or someone) cites Harry Partch as an influence...if you havenโt listened to his work โDelusion of the Furyโ, do yourself an incredible favor...

Purple, Tame Impala is pretty alright, so give Innerspeaker a try.

Yeah, good choice Jameth. One of the few from this list that I really wanted to hear and should have gotten around to by now. I guess I haven't rushed to because I have a love/meh relationship with Tame Impala. They are a hometown band for me and I have really enjoyed seeing them go from a local band to the world wide successful act they are now. I have seen them live twice, in 2011 and 2017, and the improvement from a dull stage performance to the mind blowing Currrents tour headlining worthy show is quite remarkable. They have some awesome songs (Half Full Glass Of Wine, Elephant, and of course Let It Happen, which is possibly my favourite song of the 2010s), however on both Currents and Lonerism they also have a lot of middling average songs. This album was the same. I love their overall psychedelic sound that somehow manages to sound both retro and futuristic at the same time, and Solitude Is Bliss is the awesome song from this album, but it's not until the second half of the album that I really start to enjoy it a lot. Maybe it's Kevin Parker's vocals I have an issue with as I thought Jeremy's Storm, and The Bold Arrow Of Time were probably the other great songs on this album and they are both mainly instrumentals. Don't get me wrong though...I think Kevin Parker has an incredible music brain...and their albums are very good...I just also get a bit disappointed in how good they could be based on their songs that I love. 8/10 and 22/80 for 2010.
Jameth 1985 is a great year and I would happily recommend most of these albums. I'm going to give you my #21 album of all time - Rum Sodomy & The Lash.

I donโt usually take much notice of the lyrics in new music, but theyโre unavoidable here. A lot of old Celtic or English or American folk songs seem to, in a way, shelter their subject matter; as if it were behind glass. Maybe that isnโt true, but itโs my perception of folk at times, and for me, itโs up to the performer to breathe life into these stories or proverbs or what have you, and The Pogues raise their fists and obliterate the glass. Thereโs some truly earnest, truly gripping material here that appears to be working allegorically on a number of levels (someone help me out here). This needs more listens, but Iโll go ahead and mark it fantastic.

I havenโt heard any of those albums in full, Purple, but I love โCousinsโ off Contra.

A quirky but safe, consistent set of solid indie pop. Nothing special but with no lows either, it's good enough to enjoy listening to it, and with 10 songs for a good length doesn't overstay it's welcome. 7.5/10 and 30/81 for 2010.

Ariel Pink makes some of the most catchy, fascinating, everything-but-the-kitchen-sink pop music, throwing dozens of ideas at the wall with most of them somehow sticking. The only downsides are that some of them don't, and that his status as a total creep and pervert manifests itself in the music from time to time. Overall, this is a really good off-kilter pop odyssey that I will be going back to in spite of the flaws. 3.5/5.
