This is one of the OG Vaporwave releases, so if you want to know where the genre started, then look no further! He's also a dude from Kansas City, so that makes it even better!
It's only 20 minutes, so give it a listen if you're interested in that kind of thing. There are a few good tracks here.
Oh hell yeah, let's listen to some Spirit.

Yep, this is an Arctic Monkeys album. I don't know what all their albums are doing ranked this high - maybe I just don't get them because I'm not British? I had a thought while listening to this that the kind of debauched lifestyle portrayed on their early albums is kind of similar to what The Hold Steady portray, just much more British (whereas The Hold Steady feel about as American as a band can get). So maybe I'm just lacking some cultural perspective. In any case this is somewhere between their early sound and their more recent crooning stuff but probably closer to their origins. And it's strictly worse than the debut, with no songs even nearly as good as I Bet You Look Good On the Dancefloor.
I've been meaning to listen to this one for a while Chief. Let me know how it is.

Very hard to not like this album with such a surperb bassist/bass tone and it reminding me of a combination of early and late Steve Miller Band (a lost treasure imo). One could say this is just your typical dad rock, but I actually really liked it. Just like CCR could be dismissed, but that just means you have no soul or something ridiculous like that to prove I'm right on the internet even when I'm wrong... 🤣 4/85
2. Everything Must Go by Manic Street Preachers I guess is the one I'd pick out of those for myself. And yes AM aren't anything great, but they have some tunes. I think their 2006 effort being a pitchfork favorite or something (I have no real idea actually) gives them more clout than they probably deserve. Having said that there's plenty of stuff I'd chose AM over.

Great album! It really hits the sweet spot of my jazz taste, as I love avant-garde jazz and fusion. All the tracks are strong performances, although they don't cross over too often into revelatory territory, and I could do without the most abrasive section of the opening track. Feels like a potential grower too. 4/5.

This would have been up a lot earlier but I had work. But for Igor, I do think it was quite great. It had an ecosystem that I would call distinctly him and that is quite a plus. Love the synths on this album. Had an odd quality to them where it was both rough but also quite welcoming. Would say that the first half of the album had me more invested than the second half. Songs like the Intro, Earfquake and I Think were very nuance where I could pick out certain things that just hits me on a personal level. Like the vocal riff within a 1:20 of Earfquake or when Charlie Wilson pops up which is a bonus. Also need to give a shout out to the outro Are We Still Friends? where the no and the last third of the song is so good.
Now, with all of that, why am I not as invested to it as much as I should be? To go into a thought process, I would mention two things. For one I'd argue that while I don't hate any song, I'd say there are parts of the album that I feel could have been better. New Magic Wand is a prime example where I find the vibe and the subject matter being quite gripping but I feel the rough moments could have went further. I'm reminded to the live performance at the Grammy's where that sounded way wild compare to the album. And I would say those moments throughout the second half of the album while fascinating never went the full mile to go wild. And the reason I have this feeling would be that there was other albums that had a similar vibe that did this better. I think of albums like Slide by George Clanton on Safe In The Hands of Love by Yves Tumor that shared this dichotomy of being very welcoming but also having a rough demeanor due to there vocal performances or there production style. And while I am comparing apples to oranges, I feel more invested to those albums compared to Igor.
To close this off, while I do find this album as a fascinating evolution throughout Tyler's career, I'd argue he made better albums. Flower Boy was the more consistent record of his big two albums from the tail end of the 2010's. Grade wise I'd give this an 85 but I think this might be more in the middle of an 80 to an 85. So decimal wise it is an 8.3. Maybe it could grow on future listens, but this is how I feel now.

As the cover suggests, this compilation has one side of gospel from The Soul Stirrers and one side of Cooke's early secular singles. I had heard 4/12 songs beforehand. The gospel side is consistently great, and makes me want to seek out more from that period. The secular b-side feels more slight, although there are a couple standout tracks. All told, the majority of this material is strong, and it compares favorably with his best LPs. 4/5.

Wow, this is a really difficult album to pin down on an initial listen. So many different elements from different genres are being combined that it's hard to figure out how everything is working together. But I can say that it all works together well, and I wish that it were longer than it's 30 minute runtime.

Ahhh. What a wonderful record. There is a part of me that could argue that this album is a 100. Like I can't think think of any song that I would hate or feel like it was middling where I want to go to the next song. Joanna kind shares the same quality as Joni Mitchell where the sound and her voice just hits me in a state of just being chilled and relaxes me. Also the whimsical tone and the lush instrumentation makes this comfy. But this makes me wonder, why isn't it a 100 to me? I think if there was a complaint I would say that this album, if this was trimmed down a bit to an 90 minute or one hour and forty five minute I would be more content and willing to give a 100. The caveat to that complaint would be, I just don't know what tracks I would take away from the track listing. Maybe the tracks that are just her and her harp? But I'd argue those tracks become palette cleansers for the more enveloping tracks.
If there was anything more substantial to my "complaint" it would be how an album like Ys is more digestible and knows how long it needs to stay. And when it is done, I feel like I would go back to more often. Otherwise, this was a welcoming album to me and a contender for one of the best albums for 2010 and the decade. I also need to give her other albums a revisit as well as listen to her debut from 2004. Grade wise it is a 95.

This is prime white guy funk/soul/ yacht rock from the disco era. High-pitched men had about 3 year window when their music was at the top of the game, and this one fits firmly into the Daryl Hall, Christopher Cross, etc.
He also went to the Christopher Cross school of looking nothing like your voice sounded.
Luigii, Plastic Beach has some great tracks on it, but I'd be hesitant to rate it that highly.
