Man... I don't know. Every once in a while I'm like 'yeah, this band has something going on, there's something here', and then I go listen to their albums and get dead bored by the fourth track. Hitting the 80s kick-kick-kick switchback of Victim as we speak. I know the title track is coming up, and I know I dig it, but I don't think I can stomach this band in large doses. It just blurs. Toss a solid track or two in a playlist, fine, I can get with it, but the band's albums never do it for me.
Anyway, like I said, about halfway through, and it's felt much longer 🤣 Opening track was a solid Dylan-y/Mount Eerie thing. _________________ Doubles & Conch

I heard an interview with Steven Wilson on the radio earlier this year where he was promoting The Future Bites (which I admittedly haven't listened to all of yet, but I wasn't huge on the songs I heard). He seems like an incredibly interesting guy, certainly one of the most interesting interviews of a musician I've ever listened to. But one thing that kept coming up was Porcupine Tree (of course), and Wilson was INCREDIBLY tight-lipped about anything relating to the band. That made me think that the band had something in the works, and I had forgotten about it until now. I'm excited for this, the song is solid, the music video is quite cool, and it bodes well for an album release.
Based on the timing of their first single in 12 years, I think I might expect a 2022 release for the album though. _________________ 51 Washington, D.C. albums!
Just listened through this and was blown away. Debut album from British R&B artist Joy Crookes. Sincere and beautiful beginning to end. Borders on concept. On the same wavelength as Little Simz and Arlo Parks.

Nice chart as always. Surprised you enjoyed the new Maxo Kream so much, I was highly anticipating it but felt a bit disappointed. I think its probably his worst so far, but still decent. Gonna check out "Leaving None But Small Birds " and "East Pakistan Sky ", those seem up my alleyway.

Second Portrayal of Guilt album of the year! It’s called CHRISTFUCKER it’s called and so I predict a romantic/intimate sort of Christian Rock vibe mixed in the their brand of screamo-meets-black metal-meets-grind-meets-emoviolence. Let’s see how accurate my prediction is.
Also new Serpentwithteeth which I have no idea if it’s a new LP. Should research before posting. But I’m lazy. Liked his earlier album this year.
Along those same lines the new Snail Mail! I personally never fully understood the groundswell of hype around her last album Lush. But I do like it and think it’s a damn fine indie rock thing. This new one, Valentine; looks promising!
Another one I’m looking forward to coming up the new album from Emma Ruth Rundle: she is quite unique and brilliant and I like her recent (and older) stuff. Hope it’s solid.
Not sure if Horrors is still a big deal for many of you, but they also have an album dropping in 2 days.
And yeah, finally, there is that Radiohead project Kid A Mnesiac. No fucking idea what that is about. Maybe, again, I should do a second of reading before posting this. But yeah anything from Radiohead is at the very least notable. _________________ -Ryan
Well, first impression is that this sounds a heck of a lot like...The War On Drugs (believe it or not). Sounds pretty good too. Some tracks faded into the background, but there were some nice standouts too (it took a while to get going and then around track four was great). I'll certainly give it a second listen soon and I reckon it will rank pretty high on my 2021 chart by the end.
I definitely need to give this more listens, but this definitely felt like a noticeable step down from their previous two albums. It felt like it had less energy? If that makes sense? I love their first two, and I did still definitely enjoy this, it just wasn't quite up to the standard I've grown to expect from them (but that could definitely change) _________________ Progressive Rock

Good call on the album title ( unlike me 🤣 ) I listened to the full album’s worth of bonus material this morning. It’s not digging up much in the way of completed tracks but its certainly very interesting for official Radiohead Stans. There is more leftovers here than we got with OK NotOk since none of these tracks were B sides. There is some interesting surprises too! I guess I would dig a fully packaged version even though Ive nothing to play it on in any format!
Abba and Diana Ross will be doing very well to top this, for sure.
