Quite a survey of Mastadon, Mercury! And, thanks again for your recs.

I think I've only heard some of their work years ago (Leviathan perhaps?), but can say for sure that I think Today is the Day are among the greatest metal acts ever (or, whatever you want to call them: noise rock, avant-metal, hardcore, post-hardcore...). As you probably know, two of Mastodon's members were Today is the Day previously. How would you compare them and how would you rate Today is the Day's albums?

Hey afterhours, looks like your post was lost as I made that random big off the cuff post above.

You know, you blew my mind when you mentioned that members of Mastodon were previously in Today Is The Day! I did not know! I really like the little I have heard from Today Is The Day. Their music is… intimidating. It’s brutal it’s hardcore and if I listen at wrong time, it tends to just destroy my mood. Lol. I am not familiar with any FULL ALBUMS.

Based off what I have heard, early mastodon (first album really) shares the sludgy aggressiveness with Today Is The Day. But as far as general aesthetic and sound and mood, mastodon always felt like more of a “traditional” extreme metal and then metal band whereas Today Is The Day strikes me a Los very unrelenting and inaccessible and almost indescribable. I’m drawing a blank on what you call that graph with the 2 circles that overlap to a greater or lesser degree, but mastodon and Today is the Day seem to overlap… not that much. Both share sludge in their DNA. But, again, I’ve yet to explore their incredibly fascinating discography.

Thanks for reminding me of that band and also blowing my mind (because I don’t always do much research on band line ups and cross mingling) by telling me members of one of my fave bands ever (mastodon) were in Today is the Day!

You're welcome Merc! Thanks for your input! Glad I could accidentally return the favor on recs! 🤣

The Hunter, Mastodon's 5th LP

The Hunter by Mastodon

I would like to start by saying that this album is another absolute hit for me. I think I may have a Mastodon addiction/problem. Is it possible that I will love all the albums these people have ever produced? perhaps... certainly looking that way. Now I will say a few other things about the more general positioning this album has in Mastodon's discog so far.

Hell, yeah! I love ALL their albums. 😎

Me too! They did the Metallica arc, as Merc has mentioned, but their material has always been quite good, unlike Metallica. Still need to hear the last year's effort, I've been postponing listening to it since it dropped lol.

Yes, I have an "opening song" syndrome, where I tend to like opening songs a lot for some reason. BUT, Black Tongue riff may just be the best in their discography. Simple hard rock/metal riff that's so goddamn good and impactful. Black Tongue is near the top of my Mastodon faves. They have a knack for writing incredible opening songs. Crusher Destoyer, Blood And Thunder, The Wolf Is Loose, Oblivion, Black Tongue - all of them could very well be in the top 10 as far as I'm concerned. Tread Lightly and Sultan's Curse are also among the best, if not the best track on the respective album. Now that I think of it, Sultan's Curse is surely the best song on Emperor of Sand, right? Perhaps Roots Remain, that one's killer too. Excited to hear Merc's thoughts on Once More Round the Sun and Emperor of Sand, they're quite divisive albums, especially the latter.

Also, since kokkinos did ze game, I might as well.

Is it gonna be the reverse, 32-6?

Paranoid by Black Sabbath (BEA #62) vs To Pimp A Butterfly by Kendrick Lamar (BEA #21)
TPAB easy. 0-1 for hip hop

Master of Puppets by Metallica (BEA #106) vs My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy by Kanye West (BEA #32)
Master of Puppets, easy. 1-1

Rage Against the Machine by Rage Against The Machine (BEA #128) vs Good Kid, M.A.A.D. City by Kendrick Lamar (BEA #37)
GKMC, not even close (and I kinda like RATM). 1-2

Lateralus by Tool (BEA #178) vs Illmatic by Nas (BEA #69)
A tie? Lateralus is higher on my preference list, but Illmatic is perfect. I guess Lateralus if I had to choose. 2-2

Ride The Lightning by Metallica (BEA #191) vs Madvillainy by Madvillain (BEA #85)
Madvillainy, but Ride the Lightning is incredible. 2-3

Dirt by Alice In Chains (BEA #235) vs Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers by Wu-Tang Clan (BEA #108)
Dirt, even if Enter the Wu-Tang is the most influential hip hop album of all time. But Dirt is just better to my ears. 3-3

Ænima by Tool (BEA #239) vs The Low End Theory by A Tribe Called Quest (BEA #152)
Very close. I guess I'd go with The Low End Theory if I had to pick. 3-4

Metallica by Metallica (BEA #243) vs The Money Store by Death Grips (BEA #199)
The Money Store, my 3rd or so favourite Death Grips album. 3-5

The Number of the Beast by Iron Maiden (BEA #278) vs Yeezus by Kanye West (BEA #200)
Impossible to choose. Literally. But I have to, so it's Maiden. Today, that is. 4-5

Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath (BEA #280) vs Late Registration by Kanye West (BEA #247)
Sabbath's debut, Late Registration is great, almost certainly top 3 Kanye, but not great enough. 5-5

Toxicity by System of A Down (BEA #301) vs It Takes A Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back by Public Enemy (BEA #252)
Public Enemy, although I am really nostalgic for SOAD. 5-6

Master of Reality by Black Sabbath (BEA #320) vs The Marshall Mathers LP by Eminem (BEA #264)
Master of Reality, easily. MMLP is pretty good though, don't listen to kokkinos 🤣 6-6

...And Justice for All by Metallica (BEA #363) vs Aquemini by OutKast (BEA #281)
Oh man... It's Justice, but it pains me so much to go against Aquemini, even if it's in a random made up game. 7-6

Rust In Peace by Megadeth (BEA #418) vs Ready to Die by Biggie Smalls (BEA #294)
RiP quite easy, even Biggie has no chance against it. 8-6

Powerslave by Iron Maiden (BEA #457) vs Damn by Kendrick Lamar (BEA #296)
It's Powerslave, who are we kidding. 9-6

Sunbather by Deafheaven (BEA #486) vs Atrocity Exhibition by Danny Brown (BEA #304)
Close and depends on my mood. But for the sake of ratings, I'm gonna go with Deafheaven. 10-6

Reign In Blood by Slayer (BEA #488) vs Liquid Swords by GZA (BEA #317)
Liquid Swords is on another level (not to Reign In Blood, just in general). 10-7

White Pony by The Deftones (BEA #519) vs Flower Boy by Tyler The Creator (BEA #359)
White Pony, but you can't go wrong tbh. 11-7

Angel Dust by Faith No More (BEA #527) The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill by Lauryn Hill (BEA #370)
Angel Dust. Mike Patton is S tier. 12-7

Kill 'Em All by Metallica (BEA #575) vs Stankonia by OutKast (BEA #384)
Like, neither is the best work by the respective collective, but Stankonia seems pretty overrated to me tbh. So Kill 'Em All, but not by much. 13-7

10,000 Days by Tool (BEA #589) vs Run The Jewels 2 by Run The Jewels (BEA #392)
RTJ2 is a modern classic in my mind, but 10,000 Days has Wings pt. 1 and pt. 2 so it wins by default. 14-7

The Hybrid Theory by Linkin Park (BEA #638) vs Kids See Ghosts by Kids See Ghosts (BEA #393)
Kids See Ghosts, no contest. If I was 4-5 years older it's possible Linkin Park would be a nostalgia pick or something, but I've missed that train and I don't really care for them. RIP to Chester, though. 14-8

Bad Motorfinger by Soundgarden (BEA #653) vs Midnight Marauders by A Tribe Called Quest (BEA #423)
Unfair. Midnight Marauders, but it's still unfair. 14-9

Sabbath Bloody Sabbath by Black Sabbath (BEA #660) vs The Chronic by Dr. Dre (BEA #425)
Not super familiar with The Chronic, I've heard it like twice a long time ago.

Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes From A Memory by Dream Theater (BEA #682) vs The Life of Pablo by Kanye West (BEA #441)
I'm a sucker for TLOP, it gets a vote. But despite me not being a fan of rock operas and cheesy concept albums like Metropolis, I still think that's a monster of an album with loads of highlights and barely a forgettable moment. 14-10

Rising by Rainbow (BEA #688) vs Graduation by Kanye West (BEA #449)
Also not super familiar with Graduation, but it's not one of Kanye's best, and everything except his best loses against Rising. So I think it's fair to give it to Dio and the gang (NOT Ritchmore and the gang, DIO and the gang). 15-10

Seventh Son of A Seventh Son by Iron Maiden (BEA #704) vs Straight Outta Compton by NWA (BEA #492)
Seventh Son, Straight Outta Compton is kinda hard for me to get into with its outdated sound. Besides, Seventh Son is an all time great. 16-10

Images and Words by Dream Theater (BEA #732) vs 3 Feet High and Rising by De La Soul (BEA #509)
I'm ashamed to admit that I've heard De La Soul's debut exactly once. No vote, although it'll be hard to dethrone Images and Words.

The Battle of Los Angeles by Rage Against the Machine (BEA #752) vs The Blueprint by Jay Z (BEA #513)
Haven't heard either in a long time.

Vol. 4 by Black Sabbath (BEA #796) vs Licensed to Ill by The Beastie Boys (BEA #515)
Not sure if I've ever heard Licensed to Ill.

Operation: Mindcrime by Queensrÿche (BEA #797) vs Mm.. Food by MF DOOM (BEA #526)
Mm.. Food, clearly. But Operation: Mindcrime is another concept album which has bangers all around, and even the story is quite cool, which is a true rarity. 16-11

Heaven and Hell by Black Sabbath (BEA #818) vs 808s and Heartbreak by Kanye West (BEA #540)
Heaven and Hell. Not top 3 Sabbath, but 808s might be my least favourite Kanye album, so yeah. 17-11

Blackwater Park by Opeth (BEA #825) vs We Got It From Here... Thank You 4 Your Service by A Tribe Called Quest (BEA #547)
Blackwater Park. Tribe's return is still extraordinary though, it wasn't just the 2016 hype. Still sounds so good. 18-11

Ace of Spades by Motorhead (BEA #849) vs Pinata by Freddie Gibbs & Madlib (BEA #569)
Pinata, I like Motorhead, but not that much. 18-12

Dopethrone by Electric Wizard (BEA #869) vs ATLiens by OutKast (BEA #575)
Both are great. ATLiens wins. 18-13

Crack the Skye by Mastodon (BEA #870) vs The Eminem Show by Eminem (BEA #636)
A mediocre Eminem album vs a great Mastodon album. 19-13

Mezmerize by System of a Down (BEA #893) vs Fear of a Black Planet by Public Enemy (BEA #657)
Fear of a Black Planet, haven't heard the full album in ages, but I'm still confident in the vote here. 19-14

The Real Thing by Faith No More (BEA #899) vs Section.80 by Kendrick Lamar (BEA #680)
Section.80 is not in heavy rotation, while I listen to The Real Thing from time to time. Still, they're pretty much tied in quality. Both have some extraordinary highlights as well... Might be the toughest one yet, definitely need to listen to both again, but for the sake of this game, I'll go with Kendrick. 19-15

Sabotage by Black Sabbath (BEA #931) vs The Infamous... by Mobb Deep (BEA #687)
Survival of the fit only the strong survive. 19-16

Pyromania by Def Leppard (BEA #941) vs Acid Rap by Chance the Rapper (BEA #702)
Acid Rapper. 19-17

Welcome to Sky Valley by Kyuss (BEA #963) vs Doggystyle by Snoop Doggy Dog (BEA #711)
Not super familiar with the full Doggytsyle album, might've heard it once or twice.

So 19-17 with several ties where I'm not super familiar with certain albums. Not too bad, I'm quite proud of it being this close actually 😁 RYM's overall for metal is more to my liking though, the difference would be bigger if instead of Linkin Park and RATM we had Death and Emperor.

@kokkinos, holy shit, you really had a 32-4 or something split??? that is UTTER dominance. Mine was almost exactly even. Its fine, you just haven't been bitten by the metal bug yet. Maybe it will happen someday or maybe it won't. Time will tell.

and yes there are many genres "overlooked" in the BEA top charts. Hell on RYM and literally any similar site, the Blues will be overlooked. As a blues fan I do understand even as a major proponent. The LP classics just aren't numerous. The best stuff is the old stuff, and the old stuff was singles (mostly).

(also, just noticed, Angel Dust over Lauryn Hill?!! what the f---)

----------------

@Repo, hell yeah! MASTODON FOREVA!

--------------

@Afterhours, yeah thanks. I started again their 2+ hour magnum opus (Today Is The Day, that is) again. That album is called, quite upliftingly, Sadness Will Prevail. And, oooh boy, that band and that album really carves out a musical world all its own, and it can be a brutal and unsettling world indeed.

and yeah, Gorguts' Obscura is a BEAST of abstract, complex, strangely mesmerizing, BRUTAL shredding piece of mastery. Obscura by Gorguts is perhaps the album, off the top of head, that I would be most intrigued to hear your thoughts on.

------------

@LedZep, yep, I LSO haven't checked out the new Mastodon. I am a little ashamed and regretful of that, because these dudes are huge in my musical world. But yeah hopefully going through all preceding albums before that, their 8th LP, will be better. If I had heard that new Mastodon at time of drop i would basically be completely skipping the previous 12 years of their music with no context.

And as for First track syndrome... lol I never named that issue, but its one that strikes a chord with me because I absolutely have that so often. Part of me thinks that bands do often want to put their best foot forward on albums, or at least often times their most ear-catching, thematically catchy or whatever song first. Another part of it is that all the enthusiasm and hope for the new album and the new sound and the new sonic world we are entering is all right there and as a result its memeorable and fascinating. there are plenty of times when the opener is the worst track or one of em. But mostly and by far that is NOT the case.

But Mastodon seems PARTICULARLY great at starting an album off with an absolute stinging slap to the face and attention grabber in a good way. Every opener so far has been kick ass. As you will see soon, Once More Round The Sun keeps that streak going with exclamation points.

-----------

okay, that is all the responses I think. Peace.

Mastodon through the years! (part 6)

Once More 'Round The Sun, Mastodon's 6th album

Once More 'Round The Sun by Mastodon

(Side silly note, the album covers are getting peristently worse... Remission is A material with the horse, as is Leviathan with the colorful big whale. Blood Mountain is A or even A+ depending on my mood) with its occult, 3 headed creature and colors, and Crack The Skye is one of the Best ever covers and an EASY A++... These are followed by The Hunter, which I thought was bad and silly. And now this which just strikes me as a good idea and recently done better with the similar Kids See Ghosts cover... but a good idea executed terribly. Looking ahead I think the next 2 are quite good. Okay on to the exquisite music.)

In a way this feels like a slightly more focused album than The Hunter, while not quite having the same highs. The continued trend in more and more clean Dailor vocals continues, and that is, actually, fine. I think with this style of Mastodon, these vocals work better (if I’m being honest) than the harsh vocals of Hinds and the other guys. And on some moments (especially that absolutely INCREDIBLE anthemic – I’ll say it – CLASSIC “ The Motherload”, the big anthemic vocals of Dailor is what pushes that song over the top from Great to profoundly amazing).

The drumming continues to amaze, with its fill-perfect, mercurial, active onslaught of great sounds and ideas. The riffs are really solid, consistently straight-forward (especially by Mastodon standards) heavy metal riff work with lots of nice dynamics and cool fluctuations between melodic higher pitched riffing mixed with crunchy chugs, it makes for a very invigorating experience, one where the first tendency I have is to nod my head happily and enjoy the jams.

The opener is indeed awesome, as LedZep mentioned. The groove, the riffs, that TOOOOONE, that heaviness, those drum builds and that chorus and the harmonies, those nifty little guitar licks dancing underfoot, that quick and beautiful solo at the end…everything is perfect. This is followed by what I already mentioned was surprisingly a favorite of mine almost instantly. I adore track 2 for some reason – while it is by far the most commercial song I have heard from Mastodon yet (alongside perhaps “The Curl of the Burl” – which, side note, was stuck in my head for a solid 24 hours after I wrote my The Hunter review/comment). With track 3 and 4, about halfway through the fourth/title track, it hits me that, yeah this is indeed the album when I can much more clearly hear that the band is very definitely in commercial territory. I thought I’d hate this, or at least be displeased. But maybe it was just my mood but I found it oddly refreshing hearing a top-flight metal band full of extreme metal luminaries make accessible and kick ass heavy metal of a greater common deno9minator appeal. Is it my first choice stylistically, no of course not. But I am always okay with a band doing what feels right (so long as it doesn’t positively drip poor taste and “sell out”) and sometimes once a band just fully embraces their new softer, more accessible sound, the comfort and acceptance comes across in more natural and well written songs. I think that may be the case here. This is a consistently catchy, still heavy and complex by most standards album, featuring lots of moments when it makes sense for these vets to flex their heavy/extreme cred. At times the sound gets HEAVY and kicks ass (example that comes to mind right now is “Chimes at Midnight”, but there are other great moments like this).

There are slight innovations (for THIS band, not for music or metal in general) on this album when they incorporate subtle electronic touches and quirky effects added or overlayed onto their riffs (such as on the title track), and that is refreshing and I think pretty well done on balance.

This album, as I listen again, strikes me as being actually quite different than anything prior – including The Hunter – and the psych and electronic bits as well as the de-emphasizing of either heaviness or complexity (a la Remission, Leviathan, and Blood Mountain and Crack the Skye) seems to be freeing the band up to create groovy, stoner-y, psychedelic, anthemic, accessible bangers. And I think they actually more fully embraced their new direction here than on The Hunter. On The Hunter, the band seemed a bit all over the place, as if they knew what they wanted to do yet kept looking back and keeping a toe or 2 in their earlier sound so as not to alienate too much of their mega fans. Here they just consistently create cool atmospheres and its kind of awesome. The one 2 punch of “Asleep In The Deep” and “Feast Your Eyes”, made my whole outlook on the album shift, and I don’t know why. It was almost like I finally said “*sigh* okay, fine. This is what Mastodon is as of 2014… and, listening without preconception, this is great.” And, damn it the bass grooves of “Feast Your Eyes” and the atmosphere and the fucking solo of “Asleep In The Deep” are indeed incredible.

“Aunt Lisa” is a very memorable and ear-catching song for various reasons and it’s a weird one. The structure is act5ually incredibly complex and hard (for me at least) to follow and feels the most proggy of any song here. And those wah wahhhing thick effects are wild and that break down just after the screams with 1 minute remaining is strange and … THAT closing 40 seconds… wow. A nyone who heard this album and hjas any recollection knows what chant close I am talking about. Don’t get me wrong, its GREAT and catchy and unexpected. But man it seems like it doesn’t fit in this album or any Mastodon album ever. “Hey Ho! Let’s Get Up and ROCK N ROLL!!!” – DID Mastodon just randomly pay homage to the Ramones randomly? Lol. (Edit: keep seeing comments saying this closing chant seems similar to faith No More’s “Be Aggressive”. Can’t say I am familiar but I am intrigued and will listen soon to see what the similarities are.)

Something about these songs is whenever I hear something I think I’m a bit “meh” on, some riff or chorus, or solo comes in and suddenly I love the track. That happened with “Halloween”, as I thought it was… alright and then the riffs gets heavy as shit and the solos start ripping and suddenly I’m in metal heaven. The entirety of “Ember City” is great but that song also sort of levels up toward the end.

And then the album ends with perhaps the most Mastodon of the songs here, with the epic, multi-parted “Diamond In The Witch House”. This is a sick closer, with some cool kind of lo fi or gritty vocals, lots of shifting mercurial time signatures and overlaying harmonic thingamabobs, and gobs and gobs of atmosphere and tension. Perhaps not Crack The Skye-levels of Prog brilliance, but a damn fine and kind of eerie and fitting closer.
There isn’t a single song here that is less than awesome. It really seems like a GREAT, top tier Mastodon record after a couple listens. Its consistent, and it fully owns its sound, the band seems refreshed in their new musical style(s), the opener and closer both kick ass, it features at least one all timer song (“The Motherload”) with gobs of other songs that, with repeated listens could be similarly loved.

Yeah, I am debating if I like this more than Remission and Blood Mountain as of now. That shocks me more than anyone else. It is such a bracing, energetic change of direction and it just FEELS like a more unified and consistent and dynamic album than the (already quite GREAT) The Hunter.

Note: I am listening a third straight time and this is a fucking incredible brilliant album! "Tread Lightly", "The Motherload", "High Road", "Chimes At Midnight", "Asleep In The Deep", and “Ember City” have all entered my Mastodon pantheon and the first 2 have entered my metal pantheon and the rest of the tracks at worst are great. This album kicks ass.

So, don't say you weren't forewarned when you see the grade... Metal Grade of 😈 😈 😈 🤬 🤬 (3 Twisted and 2 evil and a total of 5... in other words a classic or something that should be classic in my opinion.

Mastodon are perhaps about to take over for Slayer as my fave metal band ever. At this pace I think that will happen, unless I sour on one or more of these 6 (SIX!) straight albums I have adored so far.

----------------

My ranking of Mastodon's albums so far:

#1 - Leviathan (2004)- 9.6/10
#2 - Crack the Skye (2009)- 9.6/10
#3 - Once More 'Round The Sun (2014)- 9.2/10
#4 - Remission (2002) - 9.1/10
#5 - Blood Mountain (2006) - 9/10
#5 - The Hunter (2011)- 8.1/10

(increased Crack the Skye by 0.2, decreased Remission by 0.1 upon further reflection and to more clearly show the accurate relative love I have for these albums and to show their a clear top 2 for me in its own tier.)

Mastodon through the years! (part 7)

Emperor of Sand, Mastodon's 7th LP

Emperor Of Sand by Mastodon

This album features so much of that magic Mastodon touch that it is impossible for me to remotely dislike it. However, this album also leans so heavily into things that I don’t feel were never Mastodon’s strengths that this does feel like a step down compared to their earlier albums.

What is that Mastodon magic that is here? Well, I may seem redundant and perhaps you have gotten tired of hearing it, but I love Brann’s drumming and that thunderous and super super active jazzy fill-crazy drumming is still here in droves (if a bit less prominent than previous albums). Also, although there are less of those catchy and brilliant riffs here than on their classic s, the tasty riffs are still here. There is also a certain drama that Mastodon has with their performances that I love and even on songs that otherwise maybe I am not feeling, there is something about the renditions of the epic, mammoth drama of these tracks that I always get a kick out of hearing.

Now, what are the non-strengths of Matsodon that I mentioned they lean into? I think it really comes down to choruses and hooks and things in their songs that seem designed to get stuck in your head. There are many times when the choruses come in all bold and melodic and clean and although generally the vocals are well done and the playing is fine, these moments of broad, accessible songwriting usually just end up falling flat for me. Of course the most obvious example of this is the infamous (for old mastodon fans) “Show Yourself”, which features such a clear and intentional radio hook that it actually manages to stick out on this album with many other catchy and somewhat “Pop” songs. This track is the first Mastodon song that I feel doesn’t even sound so much like metal as it does alternative hard rock type stuff. Despite all this, I think it’s a pretty good and effective rock song and it doesn successfully get stuck in my head. It just doesn’t feel right, y’know? Even in this least hardcore of all Mastodon albums it seems to go too far.

The consistency of the album I feel is also a weakness. Despite listening to this album perhaps more than any other Mastodon album for this discog deep dive, at least 5 times through, there still is a relkatively blank feeling I get when I look at the track list and try to remember what the songs are. That is despite the album starting out pretty fucking excellently and memorably. I think everything from the kick ass opener “Sultan’s Curse” to the 4th , badass and heavy track “Steambreather”, each song and moment is distinctive and memorable. After that there is a subtle change where for sopme reason enough of the musical beats start blurring that I am just not terribly engaged. Of course even within this stretch of tracks there are individual parts that click and are incredible, such as the guitar solo on “Word to the Wise” or the surprising and yet kind of cool prog keyboard noodling on “Clandestiny” alongside the robot vocals… like, not sure I love it but I am impressed they went there and it makes me smile, or much of the closing track “Jaguar God” from the acoustic intro to the myriad tempo and time shifts and cool prog metal riff work, etc. These individual ideas keep any of these songs from being a dud all the way through. Perhaps for the first time ever in a Mastodon album there is a run of songs that I don’t love or even REALLY majorly like. Instead there are several songs making up 30 minutes of music that I like well enough with bursts of excellence to pull the songs out of the depths of mid-tier prog rock mehness.

Yeah, I tried to really give this a chance to grow on me. Listened several times and generally I do think its pretty cool. But despite having an interesting and very very proggy concept behind it and despite it being apparently a very personal album for one of a couple band members who had experienced major personal pain before making the album, and despite respecting the band as much as I have ever respected a band, this never really struck me as a great or VERY good mastodon LP. Still, not everything can be a winner (although I thought maybe Mastodon were going to manage that feat…oh well.)

Mercurial Metal Grade: 🤬 🤬 🤬 (3 evil, pretty good)

Haha! Well I am glad you love it and, honestly, I can see the appeal. I like it, but hasn’t hit me more than that yet.

HOWEVER, just about done with my first ever full listening of HUSHED AND GRIM and … holy hell it’s awesome! If this is a grower for me as well, then we have another classic. I just love the bluesy and more mournful taking-their-time sounds on this album.
