Imperfect, sensitive Aspie with a melody addiction
It’s her knottiest, most ambitious, most sprawling record - and everything here works. Whether or not I prefer it to those albums where she finds a vibe and locks into it - most obviously her debut, but also Worldwide Underground and New Amerykah Part Two - very much depends on my mood at the time. But I’d say this is (objectively?) her most impressive album, and at least as great as anything her peers ever did - even if it’s not necessarily her “best”. It’s a crying shame that it’s been seven years since she did anything of note (or twelve, taking into account albums containing actual songs). A singular voice, sorely missing from today’s pop landscape. _________________ 2021 in full effect. Come drop me some recs. Y'all know what I like.
