"They're Red hot" and "Breaking The Girl" are the only things that I really enjoy from this album

plus, I don't know why people love so much "Give it away"

When this came out I lapped it up. I played the absolute hell out of it and eventually ended up almost hating it. It just suddenly became very boring to me and I didn't listen to it for years then a few weeks ago I ended up listening to it in the car and, I must say, I quite enjoyed it but still don't know why I was so into it at the time. I still think it's probably their best work (not that I'm too familiar with their other albums)... and it did get me reading Bukowski so I guess I'm forever indebted to it for that if nothing else.

It's great, though I liked it much more before. Still, among my faves from when I had shit(tier) tastes, this is one of the few that I still think is very solid. Some truly groundbreaking tracks, some truly forgettable ones, but overall it's a lot of fun. They never remotely approached this level of quality again, and as far as I know, they had never remotely approached it before either.

There's more filler on this album than most bands have in a career. Rated WAY to high imo.

For me it's a fairly decent record, but I don't really think the band really produced a record worthy of great fascination and adoration. I'm hugely nostalgic for the record though (as well as their entire 90s output) as it was one of my first self-discoveries.

Honestly can't stand RHCP. I hate the way they do funk and even though their big radio singles are okay, they don't do too much for me. The length and repetition of the album just make it a war of patience for me. I doubt I'll ever give it another listen in my life.

This. BSSM ranks as one of the worst albums I've ever heard.

In my younger, more naive days I used to enjoy this album. Now I can't stand it (except for Breaking the Girl). Only things I enjoy now by RHCP are two tracks off Californiacation and some stuff off By The Way.
