For me, this is probably the least of the big three, but then the gradient between them is so infinitesimal as to be meaningless. It's a great album and while it may not have moved the art forward as dramatically as Are You Experienced, it may well be the pinnacle of Jimi's musical vision and it is most devinitely still one of those rare iconic albums that warrants continued discussion.

Honestly, I think this is the best of the Experience's catalog. A complete album.

This is a super unpopular opinion, I'm sure, but I've tried and tried, and I cannot get into this album for the life of me. It's just calamitous and meandering, but not in an interesting way, like Trout Mask Replica.

1983 ... (A Merman I Should Turn To Be)
This is quite possibly my favorite song of theirs.
I gave it an 80 overall. It totally shows the ability to write so much more than just riff rock.

Jimi's most interesting album and my favourite. I love the way he's expanding his sound and creating beautiful psychedelic soundscapes. _________________ All time
