Imperfect, sensitive Aspie with a melody addiction
Finally decided to put this on my chart. Contemplated the complete works, but went with this. Vol II doesn't get enough love. It's basically just as good.
Not to dis on this at all, but someone I wish I had found sooner was Josh White.
Robert Johnson and Leadbelly deserve the praise they get, but as a poptimist ( ) I like the more catchy, more smooth taste of Josh White. His guitar tone and voice is... just gold.
Plus dude was first black man to play at the White House for FDR and to his face told him that there needs to be a change to racism. He was invited back.
Convenient that I listened to this album just yesterday. These songs permeate my musical DNA at levels I didn't really acknowledge before giving this a focused listen.
yeah Josh White is cool. Top 60 country/pre-war blues singers. I quasi-idolize Robert Johnson, so there isn't even a competition between them in my mind. _________________ -Ryan
