haven't listened to any Mabe Fratti since 2019's Pies sobre la tierra, which I quite liked, but this is miles ahead of anything on that album. There's something in that metallic staccato percussion that tickles a very specific part of my brain, it almost sounds like percussion by way of a prepared string instrument (I don't think it actually is mind, but it does evoke that for me). And then the shift to a double-time almost like quasi-drum n bass pattern in the coda, just really lovely stuff. Girl so confusing is great and I'll be honest going into this round I thought it'd be an easy win, but I'm thinking this may be a surprise upset. Solid nomination Tap

Don't like either, but since the premise of Girl So Confusing is amazing and them both being sweethearts, my vote goes to that.

Check out her solo LPs for sure, but she's also a heavy part of these projects—

A Time To Love, A Time To Die by Amor Muere

Vidrio by Titanic (UN)

(Not to mention a fair slab of collab albums the past few years)

I think she's fantastic, and really hitting her stride. She's the Guatemalan cellist we never knew we needed.

I've been meaning to give Sentir Que No Sabes a re-listen. It isn't on my '24 chart atm. I remember it being a punchier sound than her usual (proof being the selected track), but I didn't quite give it the attention it deserved.

Being said, I'm not sure how to go on this one. I love supporting Fratti, but Girl is a knockout.

That Mabbe Fratti album has been in my queue half the year. Never got round to it. Based on her Titanic work and this song, I'll like it. Girl so confusing is not my personal highlight of Brat summer, but I understand why it is for many people. Insanely cool concept, great lyrics, solid tune all around. Perhaps the toughest duel of this round, two excellent tracks.

My thoughts exactly. Very tough matchup. I went with Enfrente here but Girl, So Confusing woulda got my vote over many other songs this round.

Yeah when I saw this matchup I was figuring the charli/lorde meetup would come out on top, and that'd be fair, but I'm glad Fratti is resonating! I feel like the stuff she's doing on this album is the best I've heard from her, like the pop format is getting her to push the weird cello stuff further than if this had all been more freeform. Love it!!

Enfrente is i.m.o. one of the best nominees in this tournament!
II've listened to a few music with Japanese folk music influences (which could be unintentional in this song's case, or at least could be influenced from a different culture) or at least ones with pentatonic scales, which has been always interesting for me to listen to, so the song already captivated me with that sound at the very beginning which reminds a koto made out of a tin bin served as an additional percussion. Also when the 2nd chorus starts you can hear the melody is probably played under a Japanese scale and has a real koto sound (which could be synthesized). And the whole song has a minimal groovy rhythm played with a regular drum kit, which makes the whole song's sound quite addictive, considering the whole song's instrumentation is quite minimal, which is unique!
Indeed a solid nomination!

As II've skipped the song many times, it's been quite hard for me to get into "Girl, So Confusing", but II don't really know why, so II can't give the song a proper critique.
II think it could probably be because II don't like music of this genre, similar to it or with similar traits; e.g. repetitive beats, dissonant looped melodies and even lack of melodies in some moments etc.

I was sure I was going to vote for Girl, So Confusing, even as BRAT was personally a tale of two albums this is easily top-5 all-time Charli individual tracks... but then I heard Mabe and God dang if Tap can't hit it out of the park with a beautiful rec like this. Would've made a strong Bracket final. Probs still going for my preferred Menage-a-Trois but it's difficult, might wait till the eleventh hour.
