This is an excellent album. It falls just outside my chart. It's got a great, lively Americana feel throughout and all the musicians are just so damn great at plying this unique blend of styles that they made their own. I've always felt this was their master work, not Big Pink. It's more consistent, has greater stand outs, and is I feel a much more cohesive album than the Band's debut. _________________ -Ryan
A very earthy record. This is one of the very first Americana albums, long before the genre stuck. Lots of simple tunes here, many feel like folk tunes played in a conservative pop style.
I really enjoy the sound of this album. Today it still sounds fresh and hardly dated.
It may not be your cup of tea, but there is a reason this is highly rated on this site. It's a decent album to say the least. Recommended is the Classic Albums documentary on YouTube.
