Okay, so I am taking recs left and right from here. Just last night I listened to "Bert Jansch". Very cool.

I think Josh Ritter should be on here somewhere. And Guy Clark. But man this is great!

Also, have you heard Steve Earle's "Train A-Comin'"?

Illuminations!
I've been meaning to put that on my overall chart. Great to see it on there, although I'd have put it higher.
Either way, respect.

I know Guy Clark's Old No.1 and Earle's Guitar Town and I Feel Alright, they're good. But I didn't put them in as I tend to think of them as "country" artists, somewhat a bit too remote from the "folk" idiom for this chart. On the other hand, genre definitions (particularly on this very debatable chart) are so porous they could probably have deserved a mention (well, Earle mostly for Guitar Town, excellent album). I'll listen to Train A-Comin' soon.

EDIT: oh, and I've never heard any Josh Ritter.

Talking of the Texas thing, it would of been nice to have Townes Van Zandt in there or say Robert Forster. But thats me being greedy. A brilliant chart so well thought out and imaginative.

Oh cool. Yeah "I Feel Alright" and "Guitar Town" are for sure more country. I'm okay with that. "Train a-Comin' is more blues/country/folk.

And I would like to recommend Josh Ritter. He's is an
Out of this world lyricist. I think you will love "The Animal Years". Thäs his masterpiece in my opinion. But a more direct folk Dylan-esque album of his that is also amazing is "Hello Starling". If you want to just check out a couple tracks real quick to get a feel for his amazing lyrics I'd listen to "Temptation of Adam" and "The Curse".

Oh and the whole country label why you don't have Townes Van Zandt?

Thanks for the recs, duly noted.

I haven't listened to enough Townes, but with Our Mother the Mountain alone he should def be there.
